Cult of Kalge
I like the Daju people (and the whole of Darfur at that). They’re a very interesting group with very little written about them. From what we do know is that they are old. Apparently they originated in Shendi and were amongst the "Libyan Pharaohs" of Egypt before being ousted and migrated south. They were then pushed back against by the Kushites and would settle in Sudan, establishing the Daju Kingdom over the remnants of the Tora (who may or may not be real). They were known as "Pharaoh’s Folk", were pagans, and viewed as quarrelsome by their neighbors. That is, until, they were then subjugated by the Tunjur.
They seemed to have a unique religion, where they worshipped a high god called Kalge. Though now predominantly muslim, I’ve read that many Daju still use Kalge’s name as a synonym with Allah. I thought this was pretty interesting and decided to have their actual faith represented in game rather than have all of them be kushite. Keep in mind this is a VERY quick and dirty mod, further held back thanks to the fact we basically have no real information during time regarding paganistic Daju belief aside from it probably being animistic.
- The addition of a new Kordofanian faith, Kalgeism.
- El-Fasher, Dar al-Said, East Darfur, and West Kordofan are now Kalgean, rulers included. Kordofan proper and West Kordofan are still Kushite.
