Description:

This mod changes the "Seek Aid of the Spirits" decision.

This decision is usually available to religions with the "Adorcism" cultural tradition. Now, it is also available to witches and mystics.

Good outcomes also improve your base skills (diplomacy, stewardship, etc) and may even grant you the immortality trait from the base game. The game is already plagued with too many traits. So, I will avoid adding any more.

Possessed and witch fame traits raise dread.

Feel free to brainstorm your incredible ideas 🙂

Next update:

Ideas I am considering (but might never implement):

> Become immortal, by killing an immortal.
> Exorcise/Expel/Free Spirits decision to remove the "Possessed" trait. Should this be performed by Christian or Abrahamic priests?
> Witches drain lifeforce (cure illness, increase base skills, add health to live longer or maybe immortality) or traits from prisoners. Via character interaction? Do victims die, simply lose the trait or become hexed?
> Make it easier to become a witch, if witchcraft is accepted.
> If witch, allow creating an Obaven, a working couple?
> Make it easier to create a witch coven, if witchcraft is accepted or if character has witch trait or secret.
Should be able to start a coven with 3-5 witches, the historically "common" number.
Historically, the ideal size was almost always aimed at 13 (including head or high-priest). Sources point to this number: as apostolic mimicry (12 apostles +1 head); The Unlucky Number or Day; Triskaidekaphobia; Norse 13th deadly guest; calendars; the number that would fit in the circle.
If coven has 13 or more witches it gets increased powers.
> Similarly to dynastic cadet branches, covens larger than 13 may hive, forming a larger witch hive.
Each coven could add bonuses to the hive.
Perhaps the bonuses can be powers.
Maybe each coven can have an aspect.
Should each coven (entire hive) benefit or only the lead coven?
> Witch Powers
>> Drain lifeforce.
Of prisoners? Charmed characters? Do victims die, simply lose the trait or become hexed?
Get health. Cure Illness. Increase base skills.
Pick traits to drain: Strong. Quick, Genius. Shrewd. Pretty/Handsome, Beautiful. Hale, Herculean/Amazonian. Fertile.
Maybe random rare immortality trait from draining lots of lifeforce?
Maybe have a coven or hive ritual, where 13 prisoners are sacrificed or drained to become immortal?
>> Familiar.
>> Charm. Both individual characters and society.
Charm bonus would make sway and seduce easier.
Allow changing religion to increase acceptability of witches/possessed without reformation, etc. Particularly by swaying a religious head (If religious head is charmed/friend/lover/hooked, trigger event to change acceptability in their religion by religious decree).
Limit to every x years and to witch coven/hive power/numbers/mana in own/foreign society/religion.
Charm someone to learn their secrets.
>> Boons.
>> Witcher/Hallowed Army/Might/Military:
Sorcerer/Witches/Hallowed Men-at-Arms and/or Retinue?
Stronger (Blessed/Hallowed) Knights/Men-at-Arms/Armies?
Dark Knights Man-at-Arms?
>> Hexes.
Hexshot/Hexshooters/Elfshot Archers Man-at-Arms.
Hex/Curse characters.
Similar to murder, but without schemes?
Give Illness. Health penalties. Negative traits. Enable selecting which.
Should mana be required to cast? or a timer?
>> Poppetry
> Add male (Wicca/Warlock) variant for female witch (Wicce)? "Warlock" is modern invention and not old English. Witchcraft is not exclusive to old English culture, so male/female/old English variants are irrelevant.
> Add witch hunters? Witch hunts? Witch Hunter characters/MAA?
> Add Malleus Maleficarum artifact? Enables becoming witch? Needs to be witch to find it?
> Create separate decision to avoid incompatibilities with other mods and mental cancer caused by the convoluted vanilla code: Commune with the Spirits.
> Things that could increase witchcraft power: 1- Witch trait (basically your first power). 2- Possessed. 3- Obaiven. 4- Found coven. 5- 13 Life drains. 6- 13-Witch coven. 7- 13-Sacrifice ritual. 8- Hive cadet coven (+1 power per coven in the hive). 9- Charmed Heads-of-Faith.
> Necronomicon? 🙂
