Ethnographic regions of Ukraine
IMPORTANT MOD DOES NOT ADD UKRAINE TO THE WORLD MAP FROM THE START OF THE GAME, YOU NEED TO CREATE IT FROM OTHER STATES
The mod adds better regional boundaries to the game for Ukraine. Better, of course, in my author’s opinion. Makes adjustments to the number, national and religious composition of the population of new regions. Adds and corrects Ukrainian names and surnames of people. He rebalances resources in these territories. Introduces new religious movements. Changes the strategic map. And also new modifiers for the provinces.
- Halychyna
- Pudkarpattya
- Bukovina
- Volyn
- Polisya
- Podolia
- Naddniprianshchyna
- Sivershchyna
- Slobozhanshchyna
- Zaporozhzhya
- Donshchyna
- Kuban (Divided into Kuban and Stavropol)
- Tavriya
- Zaporizhzhya
- Prychornomorya
- Vugol
The split exists for a better gaming experience and is possible in future updates for other lands as well.
The cities have either historical names or invented by me so that they are not Moscow. He also used the controversial decision that some cities from neighboring provinces of other states should be located on the territory of Ukraine, because one region has a limit of 4 cities, or 5, if it has access to the sea, a port. This in no way spoils the game process itself, they are simply graphically displayed in Ukraine, but all resources and buildings are on the owner’s land.
- Unyati (Greek Catholics)
- Old Believers (Lipovans included)
The population is quite difficult to calculate correctly, because the game starts in 1836, and normal censuses began in the late 19th century. I relied on various works for Galicia[1][2], for Pudkarpattya I got information from printed books of my friends about the Subcarpathian Rusyns, for Bukovyna[2], for the rest of the country[3][4]. I took the number of people from earlier works, but unfortunately, they indicated the number of recruits for the army, so I had to blur the data a bit. I multiplied them by two to get the approximate number of women of that age and added 20-30% to account for the elderly and children. In the newer censuses, national (language) and religious self-determination were added as percentages.
This resulted in data that differed significantly from the data of the developers. But very small ethnic minorities are indicated, which I hope will have a more significant impact on the game in the future, because so far, apart from either rapid assimilation or good soil for migration of European peoples and a small number of racist events, it has no impact.
It is important to note that for the border provinces, the population was not worked out in detail, but simply reduced, mainly in terms of the Ukrainian population and the largest ethnic groups of the Ukrainian regions that were taken away from the land. Also, Kuban was not changed, and the data there is from the developers, because for 1836 there are no detailed records on the number of recruiters.

If there are any questions, there is a corresponding discussion, I invite you there.
As for the plans for the future of the mod, there is also a corresponding discussion.
If there are interested players from Moldova and the Baltic countries (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia), I can also add more accurate data for your countries. Names and surnames, population, their religion, names of cities, perhaps important rivers for you. The works I cited earlier are relevant to you as well. If you are interested, please let me know either in the English discussion or in the comments. Discussion is better. Or you are from some other country that is nearby. Muscovy is ignored right away, in Poland, maybe only for minorities like Kashubians, Polabians, Luzhichans, Moravians.
This decision is dictated by the desire to expand the audience of the mod.
Submods are optional, but exist to improve the main mod.
