FindMod patch fix for CE: GE
This mod improves compatibility between the Gameplay Edition fork of Combat Extended and mods with built-in Combat Extended patches by loading those Combat Extended patches.
Obviously requires the Combat Extended: Gameplay Edition mod.
For Combat Extended patches, you have two practical ways of loading patches:
- LoadFolders – These patches kick in when a mod with a matching packageId is loaded.
- PatchOperationFindMod – These patches kick in when a mod with a maching label is loaded.
Although modders will endlessly argue about which is best practice, no one can deny that quite a lot of mods use the PatchOperationFindMod method. This is a problem, as while Combat Extended: Gameplay Edition has the same packageid as the current ‘main’ branch of Combat Extended, it has a different name. That means any relevant PatchOperationFindMod patches will not kick in because the labels don’t match.
This mod fixes that by intercepting any patches looking for Combat Extended and having them look for Combat Extended: Gameplay Edition instead. This ensures all PatchOperationFindMod patches looking for regular Combat Extended will load correctly.

No, I’m not a big fan of how Sam has chosen to do things and I honestly can’t say I’ve made this mod without any ulterior motives. Nonetheless, it is a functional fix.
