Community Languages & Dialects Project
—>THIS MOD REQUIRES ALTERNATIVE MOD LAUNCHER FOR WOTC USERS<—[github.com]
This mod is meant to be an ongoing long-term project that will allow people to more easily contribute regional voices to the game. The description is split into two sections. One for mod users, and one for voice contributors.
This is essentially meant to be a spiritual successor/fork to XCom 2 International Voices Pack.
Volunteers needed. Refer to the ‘Voice Contributor Section’ if you wish to contribute.
Mod User Section
- New regional languages and English accents listed below
- Individually adjustable volume for each voice via a config file
- Some of the voices can randomly appear on normal soldiers.
- Cooked
- Works with both base-game and WotC
- Support for events added in voice patcher, get the mod >here<.
- Two of the voices here are carry-overs from ‘XCom 2 International Voices Pack‘, those being ‘Swedish 1’ and ‘Southern U.S. English 1’. They have additional lines and different audio filtering.

Voice Contributor SectionThis section is addressed to anyone that wishes to provide voices for this mod.
Any and all languages with real-world precedent is valid for contribution, including languages that the base-game already has localization for. If you are fluent in another language, but it’s not your native tongue, you can still contribute here.
If the voice has a notable dialect (e.g. a variant of the language with pronunciation and/or vocabulary altered based on its region of origin), it should be mentioned. This dialect could be almost anything, from something broad like ‘Australian English’, to something much more specific like ‘Estuary English’. It could also be that a voice is a non-native speaker of the language they’re voicing for, and the voice carries pronunciation indicative of their native tongue. As long as it’s clearly defined, and has some level of precedence in the real world, it is contributable.
A dialect does not need to be specified for all contributed languages, but there are some languages where I’d say it’s required. In particular: English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Examples of potential contributions:
- Southern U.S. English
- Australian English
- Pirate English
- Old Western English
- German English
- Canadian French
- Latin-American Spanish
- Brazilian Portuguese
- Swedish
- Romanian
- Mandarin
Voice SubmissionBelow, I’ve linked a document with general guidelines & instructions on submitting a voice, as well as an example script that can be used for voicing dialogue. Unfortunately, it is only in English. It is a pretty hefty document and I don’t have the means to translate it myself being a monolingual scrub. It will be up to you to translate and provide equivalent lines for your language. A machine translation might be sufficient.
Guidelines & Script (current version v2):
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tY5-E3iIfccm7BD6U2isC-ykdLSj0zOTn3jFe31tz1c/edit?usp=sharingBelow, I’ve also linked a zip file with reference lines that may be helpful to some people that need more direction. The purpose of the example voices is to show the expected cadence and tone of each event, and to encourage some level of creative freedom with the script. It consists of dialogue from XCOM 2, XCOM: EW, and characters from other mods I’ve worked on to try and demonstrate that well. Unfortunately, it is also only in English.

If you have further questions related to this project, you can reach me through the following methods.
1. Send an email to [email protected]
2. Send me a DM in DIscord to user ayser1060
Also, more flags will be added to the thumbnail as voices are added, in case anyone was curious.
