[SP]Операция "Дунай"
Операция «Дунай» — ввод войск пяти стран Варшавского Договора в Чехословацкую Социалистическую Республику (ЧССР), начавшийся 21 августа 1968 года.
Причина операции — опасения советского руководства по поводу возможной потери контроля над Чехословакией. В январе 1968 года избранный первым секретарём ЦК КПЧ Александр Дубчек инициировал реформы, направленные на децентрализацию власти в стране и расширение политических свобод, которые вошли в историю как «Пражская весна». Советское руководство опасалось, что независимая политика чехословацких коммунистов приведёт к ослаблению влияния Москвы и на другие страны социалистического блока.
В ночь на 21 августа войска СССР, Польши, ГДР, Венгрии и Болгарии с четырёх направлений пересекли чехословацкую границу. В течение 36 часов армии стран Варшавского договора установили полный контроль над чехословацкой территорией.

Operation Danube was the entry of troops from five Warsaw Pact countries into the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic (Czechoslovakia), which began on August 21, 1968.
The reason for the operation is the fears of the Soviet leadership about the possible loss of control over Czechoslovakia. In January 1968, Alexander Dubcek, who was elected First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, initiated reforms aimed at decentralizing power in the country and expanding political freedoms, which went down in history as the "Prague Spring". The Soviet leadership feared that the independent policy of the Czechoslovak Communists would lead to a weakening of Moscow’s influence on other countries of the socialist bloc.
On the night of August 21, the troops of the USSR, Poland, the GDR, Hungary and Bulgaria crossed the Czechoslovak border from four directions. Within 36 hours, the armies of the Warsaw Pact countries established full control over Czechoslovak territory.
