Unlimited Crew Size
======Works in starbound 1.3=====
By popular demand: Unlimited Crew Size!
Finally, you can have as big a crew as you want on your ship! However, there are a few caveats:
~~~~~~~READ THIS IF NOTHING ELSE~~~~~~
HOW THIS WORKS:
Crew Size is determined at the MOMENT you upgrade your ship. If this mod is installed when you upgrade, you have the large crew size, if not, you have the default crew size.
Additionally, you get the liscence to upgrade your ship if and only if you get the maximum number of crewmembers on your current tier of ship. Due to this, I have ONLY increased the crew size for the FINAL TIER of ship.
Finally, because crew size is tied *specifically* to your race’s ship, all non-vanilla races will *not* gain the benefit from this mod. Sorry. You’re welcome to build a mod specifically for those races if you’d like.
WHAT THIS MEANS:
If you do not yet have the current best tier of ship in vanilla starbound, you can upgrade your ship to Tier 8 and enjoy unlimited crewmembers!
If you have already upgraded to the best tier of ship in vanilla starbound, you’re in luck! I’ve also built in compatibility for the Tier 9 Ships mod. You can install that, buy an illegal liscence from the vendor next to penguin pete, and enjoy unlimited crewmembers! This also works for Tier 10, or at least should.
If, however, you are among the unlucky few who have already upgraded to a tier 9 ship, I’m sorry. There may be a way for you to enjoy unlimited crewmembers with this mod without rerolling. Some of the users of this mod report that you can do the following to get it working:
From the user bk3000–
for all those who max-upgraded already… easy fix. Just delete your ship. This is the same simple process you follow moving from a vanilla ship to most mod ships BTW.
1. Now take your stuff off first! Put it on a planet somewhere.
2. Go into your Starbound folder. The easiest way to do that is to right click on Starbound within your Steam Library, "properties", "Local Files" tab, "browse local files" button.
3. Go into starboundstorageplayer
4. If nervous you can always back up this folder first. Right click somewhere in empty space, "sort by", "Date Modified". The latest date/time will reflect the character that you last played. Delete that player’s .shipworld file.
5. Don’t worry! Upon logging back in, Starbound will generate a new ship for you and all your ship upgrades will be re-applied instantly.
FAQ:
Do I need a new save? A: Only if you have already upgraded to the highest tier ship already.
The ♥♥♥♥ is this thumbnail? A: It’s late and I’m tired leave me alone.
Can I get a link to the Tier 9 ships mod? A: Buh. Fine. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=729469608
It appears another mod developer has created a similar mod which also supports non-vanilla races (to an extent) — Here’s a link to that mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=747212922&searchtext=crew+size+overcapped
If you use non-vanilla races, please head over there! Kudos to @postmodernCorruption
Yet another mod developer made a mod that changes crew size using a different method, and also includes mechanisms for you to customize your ship. If 200 crew members and (seriously) giant ships suites your needs, check their mod out here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=789841235
There are also patches for non-vanilla races. Kudos to @bk3000
