General Description

hi, its an amateur recreation of "Abandoned factory" from game called War Thunder.

its a factory, an abandoned one, maybe even *archived*. let me take some description from War Thunder Wiki: "…is a ground forces map …It is set around a disused factory complex and offers both long-range and close-quarters. The south of the map is taken up by a rail yard …and a number of small buildings / storage tanks. The middle area of the map is the main factory complex with a series of large buildings, storage tanks, and pipes. The north of the map contains a large field outside of the main complex. A smaller complex can be found on the hill in this area".

Well it kinda plays like that i can say. though, since Ravenfield is a game about infantry also, there is no much close quarters going lol. For infantry, the map is about industry squares, sniping from cool sniping spots i prepared and occasionally beating some close range cars popping around the corner. cool feature of the map is some ladders i placed here and there to take some high sniper spots like watchtowers or even the highest chimney pipe of the map! who knows what secrets it have~ dont forget to put MGS3 ost during climbing on it.

I made bots to not defend points beside main bases so there wouldnt be moment like most of the bots just defending their positions instead of fighting. It also makes them spawn less when you capture the point, less annoying. And brings more dynamic to battle i guess.

Optimisation

Since we ended with map general description, lets get to the most thrilling part of map for me. Can your PC handle it with 160 bots at 40-50 fps at least? – 75% chance! Can your laptop handle it? – like, 23% chance! i can say its not my most optimised work, but one of the best ones surely. Its my second map made with Unity editor instead of in-game map editor. If this map was made with in-game one, it could destroy any PC lol. This map uses such things like Occlusion culling and LOD components for objects what makes most of objects dissapear when you dont see or dont have to see them, and also the assets was made via Blender where i have this "combine" option what makes any number of objects in the asset be rendered as just one. moreover, some objects dont have collision. So i think the map is pretty much optimised according to my current abilities. maybe i could make it more optimised if i was master in this, but that one is okay too. its a giant industry zone after all.

Also i would recommend decrease graphic settings of Ravenfield, close all other programs, that default stuff, and also i found some mutators that do optimisation! here:

Transport spawners

Here is which transport spawn at points in case you would want to configure the transport to your very liking. For example, if you turn all transport into tanks, you would get the "Tank battle" version of the map and i wouldnt need to make it as separate workshop item!

Main bases (two for each team):
Tank, APC, 2 jeeps, 2 MG jeeps, 2 quads.

Airports of each team:
one of every thing: fighter plane, bomb plane, fighter helicopter, transport helicopter. helicopters placed in a way that you can replace it with planes and they wouldnt have trouble taking off!

Seaports of each team (something new lol):
1 battle ship, 1 boat.

Middle points (A,B,C and additional ones):
jeep, MG jeep, quad. Point near the C point have just quad.

(transport respawn time: 16 secs after destruction)

Afterword

Im tired but I wasnt tired during most of developing. I like the results. Working with Unity editor is cool too. with the help of others, i know more and more of Unity to make cooler maps! I’ve been eating to many chips recently i guess….. im too "lazy" to spend time cooking. Lots of random external responsibilities happen for me, yet map making is what gives me somewhat a humanity for myself, feeling of sense of life, so i guess i should just continue.

If you have suggestions regarding gameplay of the map, small mistakes or additional versions, please tell! I will make those as fast as i can.
