Numenorean Blood Genetics Breeding
Disclaimer: I know it is not lore accurate but my CK3 addiction made me want to breed that trait!
A lightweight add-on for LotR: Realms in Exile that replaces the vanilla luck-based inheritance of the Blood of Númenor trait with a proper breeding system. Line up the right parents and you can climb tiers across generations — or ruin the bloodline with bad marriages and dark faiths.
Whenever a child is born to a parent carrying Blood of Númenor, the mod handles the inheritance through one of three cases:
- Case A — Pure-line breeding: both parents share the same tier 1-9. The child rolls upgrade / maintain / downgrade. This is the core feature.
- Case B — Pristine couples: both parents are tier 10 (born on Númenor). The child rolls tier 9 or tier 10 — no decay below 9.
- Case C — Mixed heritage: parents have unequal tiers. The child is rolled over the full range [min, max]
using a triangular distribution — mid-range outcomes most likely, extremes rare.
Base roll weights: 10 upgrade / 90 maintain / 0 downgrade. Bonuses and penalties add to these weights.
- +5 per parent with the Pure-Blooded trait
- +3 if a parent has Consecrated Blood and follows an Eruhíni faith
- +2 if a parent has any virtue trait and follows an Eruhíni faith
- Highest parental Devotion (Eruhíni only, one bonus at a time):
- +2 Devoted Servant (piety level 3)
- +5 Religious Icon (piety level 4)
- +10 Paragon of Virtue (piety level 5)
Maximum upgrade weight: 10 base + 25 bonuses = 35 (then multiplied by the game rule factor, up to ×2).
- +16 per sinful trait each parent has — respects each parent’s own faith (a lustful Dúnedain gets punished, a parent whose faith tolerates lust less so)
- Atrocity boost on top of the sin base, always applied:
- +32 Kinslayer III
- +32 Cannibal
- +16 Kinslayer II
- +16 Witch
- Hidden sins (secrets):
- +8 Deviant, Non-Believer
- +16 Murder Attempt, Lover, Murder, Incest
- +24 Cannibal
- +32 per parent following a Forces of Evil faith
- +16 per parent following a neutral faith (neither Eruhíni nor Forces of Evil)
At extreme parental depravity (two cannibal-kinslayer parents of an evil faith) the downgrade weight can exceed 200, effectively guaranteeing tier loss.
- 85% → child drops to tier 9 (default post-Downfall decay)
- 15% → child inherits full tier 10 (rare miracle, pristine blood preserved)
- ×2 tier 10 chance if either parent belongs to Ar-Pharazôn and the exemption game rule is enabled
No downgrade below tier 9 is possible here — pristine couples always produce at least a tier 9 child.
Outcomes rolled over the full [min, max] tier range with a triangular distribution. Example with a tier 7 father and tier 3 mother:
- Tier 3 — 11%
- Tier 4 — 22%
- Tier 5 — 33%
- Tier 6 — 22%
- Tier 7 — 11%
Special rules:
- Hard cap at tier 9: if one parent is tier 10 and the other isn’t, the child maximum is capped at 9 (post-Downfall lore). No more "lucky tier 10" children from tier 10 × tier 2 marriages.
- Breeding-down punishment: if a parent has no Blood of Númenor at all, the effective maximum is reduced by one further. The weakest heritage always drags the line down a bit.
- Edge case protection: a tier 1 parent married to a no-trait parent will not lose the trait — vanilla inheritance is left alone.
Blood of Númenor — Upgrade Chance (Case A multiplier):
- Very Low — ×0.5
- Standard — ×1 (default)
- High — ×1.5
- Very High — ×2
Ar-Pharazôn Exemption:
- Disabled (default, lore-friendly) — Dynasty Ar-Pharazôn takes the usual decay penalties from dark/neutral faiths
- Enabled — Dynasty Ar-Pharazôn ignores faith-based downgrade penalties and doubles their tier 10 chance in Case B, letting the Black Númenórean line retain high blood tiers
- No override of vanilla genetics in unequal marriages: if vanilla decides a child of a mixed-culture marriage shouldn’t inherit the trait, the mod respects that. This prevents Rohirrim, Haradrim, Easterling and other non-Númenórean human children from suddenly becoming Númenórean through chance alone.
- No effect on existing characters: the mod only applies to newborns going forward.
- No tier generation out of nowhere: the mod cannot create the trait in a lineage that doesn’t already carry it.
- LotR: Realms in Exile (required — this is a submod)
- Crusader Kings III 1.18.*

Overrides
from the parent mod. Should not conflict
with any submod that doesn’t touch Blood of Númenor inheritance.
