Description:
What the mod does

This mod improves High Queen Khalida’s army-wide poison effect by restoring the pre-patch poison to -25% speed and -20% damage, and now also causes minor damage over time.

Khalida’s bound spell Venom Wave retains the original poison to allow for a stacking damage penalty for 10 seconds.

I now also have a version that only restores the poison debuff without adding the damage over time, if you want a campaign closer to pre-patch levels.

Why does this mod exist?

As of the The Hammers & Herdstones update that came with The Silence & The Fury DLC, the poison attacks effect caused by several units and Khalida’s army-wide bonus was nerfed dramatically: -24% speed to -15%, and the damage penalty reduced from -20% to -15%.

High Queen Khalida unfortunately already had a struggling start position, facing off against not only the sparse settlements slowing her early conquest, but also a likely war against the mighty Saurus Warriors led by Kroq-Gar.

This mod restores the original poison effect for Khalida’s army to make the general poison nerfs not hurt her campaign and takes the opportunity to add a small boost and flavour to her ability. The extra -1% speed keeps it in line with the new simplification of effect numbers.

Mod notes and specifics

This shouldn’t conflict with anything.

I don’t know how to remove Khalida’s original poison effect (without datacoring) so it appears twice in the Lord Effects box, but I have tried to make it look prettier and the base poison is otherwise disabled. The new poison deals roughly 1 damage per second per entity per second, up to 16 dps for typical units – 2 ticks per second for 1 damage; 50% chance per entity, damaging up to 8 max entities.

I did try to change Venom Wave, but after seeing it in action with both poisons stacking, I decided to just leave it alone as an extra bonus – she will likely hit her targets with her melee attacks anyway so it makes the spell more relevant.
