Auxiliary Imperial Guard
As the West fragments at the seams, some romantics may look back to earlier ages in Roman history.
Some perhaps may wonder, that if the Empire survived the Crisis of the Third Century — then perhaps they should call back to it.
The Barbarians, and those that they flee show no mercy to Gall. Its Romanised inhabitants fair game for cruelty and slaughter. In desparation, Postumus’ Imperial Guard could perhaps make something of a return amongst the controversial Late Roman Legions. Made up of Roman and Gallic Retainers, these soldiers are modelled off the Praetorian Guard of old. Equipped with aged Lorica Segmentata, and wielding long Spatha blades, the Imperial Guard offers any Roman General a suitably dangerous elite unit. Discipline and Brutality make excellent company.
Hello! This is my first custom unit mod! It’s an attempt to crowbar the Gallic Imperial Guard into Total War Attila. I apologise for any bugs, it took me a while to even figure out which helmet I wanted. Hope you enjoy.
Unit is available to Western Rome at Tier I Barracks, however they take 3 turns to recruit and have a fairly sharp asking price and upkeep. The purpose for this in my head was that they’re theoretically attainable by Honorius as soon as everything starts going wrong — to emulate the fact that they’re jumped up adventurers and Nobles in Gall. Yet with Lorica Segmentata not irreversibly, but absolutely out of common production, and their elite nature — they take a very long time to ‘doomstack’ with.
