Eye Adaptation

Hey, I’ve just recently started learning to script in SQF and I know I still make mistakes, but I’ve discovered you can do some very interesting and powerful things in ARMA 3—so many, in fact. Today I bring you a very simple but nice script that gives the game "eye adaptation" when entering or exiting buildings or any dark area such as under bridges or in dense forests.

⚙️Main Features:
  • 👁️ Adaptation:
    *It’s very simple—when you enter a dark area quickly, your screen will darken slightly for a few seconds and gradually adapt to the interior, and the same applies when exiting.
    *Under bridges, the adaptation will be lighter but still noticeable.
    *In forests, since more light filters in, the effect is subtler but still noticeable when looking through branches or leaving the forest.
    *It also works in ruined buildings, though the effect is softer than in forests, but more noticeable than under bridges.
IMPORTANT

This works on any map, but I’ve noticed that a few specific buildings (very few) without doors do not trigger the effect correctly. That’s because the script relies on doors and open zones to detect dark interiors, and these 3 or 4 house models don’t offer that—however, they are naturally well-lit, so the difference is barely noticeable.

This script gave me lots of headaches, so I hope you enjoy it! I’ll soon release the seasonal nature system, dynamic lighting like Lumen, and other cool features I’ve programmed.
