LGM-30，Minuteman， It is currently the only intercontinental ballistic missile in service in the United States and the most important and largest part of the US Trinity nuclear deterrence force. The LGM-30A entered service in 1962, the LGM-30F entered service in 1965, and the LGM-30G entered service in 1970. From deployment in 1970 to production ending in 1978, a total of 550 LGM-30G missiles were in service, with a total of 840 produced at a total cost of approximately $6.7 billion, of which the development cost was approximately $2.73 billion. Originally, the LGM-30G missiles were stored in bunkers, but the inventory was reduced by 14 missiles, resulting in a deployment of 50 missiles at Marstone Air Force Base; 150 pieces from Minot Air Force Base; 186 from Warren Air Force Base; 150 pieces from Grand Forks Air Force Base. Since the 1990s, the United States has implemented the LGM-30G missile modernization and improvement program, aimed at improving missile reliability, maintainability, and combat effectiveness, and extending its service life until 2030. This includes (1) Guidance System Replacement Program (GRP), (2) Propulsion System Replacement Program (PRP), (3) Terminal Propulsion System Improvement Program (PSRE), (4) Enhanced Safety Warhead Program (SERV), (5) Life Extension Program for Rapid Execution and Combat Targeting (REACT), (6) GPS Precise Tracking Program, (7) Environmental Control System Replacement Program (ECS), (8) Solid Rocket Engine Industrial Basic Maintenance Project. After improvements in propulsion, guidance, terminal assistance, and reentry, the combat performance of the improved LGM-30G missile has been comprehensively enhanced.
