NOR N10 Flirt NEX
The Norwegian Type 79(now classfied as N10) electric multiple units are ordered by the vehicle operator Norske tog. Norske tog procures rail vehicles and offers passenger transport operators on the Norwegian rail network the option of leasing these vehicles. Following the conclusion of the bidding phase, the contract was awarded to Stadler Rail.
Some of the locomotives and carriages used for long-distance transport in Norway are 40 years old and are reaching the end of their service life. These are to be replaced by the new multiple units, after which no more locomotive-hauled passenger trains will operate in Norway.
Seven trains will initially be deployed on the Bergensbane from 2026, followed by the Dovrebane and Sørlandsbane with three units each and the Nordlandsbane with four trains by 2028.
Current available types: 4 car, Type A and C (Type B (DMU) and Type D will follow when more information is available)
