Description:

The KiHa30 and KiHa35 were designed for non-electrified commuter lines in the suburbs of large cities. 413 units were built between 1961 and 1966. They had three wide double-doors on each side, and longitudinal seating for maximum capacity. The KiHa30 had two cabs, whilst the KiHa35 had single cabs and a toilet at the rear of the carriage. Due to their uncomfortable nature for long distance travel and the electrification of the commuter lines they were designed for, some KiHa35 units began to be scrapped in 1983 with the last units surviving in revenue earning service with JR until 2013.
Currently one unit is in service with the Mizushima Rinkai Railway (KiHa30) and six units with Philippine National Railways (5 KiHa35, 1 KiHa36). 11 are statically preserved in various places throughout Japan.

This pack contains KiHa30 and KiHa35 in vermillion and cream liveries, which they would’ve worn from new throughout the network. The KiHa30 unit in service with the Mizushima Rinkai Railway still retains this livery. Includes custom engine sounds and working head/tail lights. This version has 1067mm bogies, designed to be used with 1067mm track.
