Description:
The updated version for B42.7 has been released. Please unsubscribe then resubscribe, enable the mod and copy-paste the zombie folder, as usual.

Sandbox option settings have changed. Due to the recent vanilla update, the previously set maximum values for "Condition Lower Chance One In" and "Condition Max" no longer work as intended, resulting in significantly reduced maximum allowable values for the melee weapon durability. The corresponding sandbox option settings also no longer take full effect either. Therefore, a new "Indestructibility" checkbox has been introduced, preventing melee weapons from losing condition and sharpness. This option is disabled by default.

At last, this mod lets you add the jaw-stab insta-kill to your arsenal.

Jaw stabbing is the only silent insta-kill move and has one of the coolest animations in PZ, yet hardly anyone uses knives as their main weapon due to the following issues, which this mod addresses:

* The jaw stab won’t trigger in real combat situations with zombies, because the game automatically disables it when more than one zombie is chasing you. The distance doesn’t even matter. No matter how high your stabbing weapon’s critical hit chance is, it won’t trigger neither.

* If your short blade skill is low, there’s a high chance your knife will get stuck in your victim’s body after performing a jaw stab, suddenly leaving you empty-handed and vulnerable in the middle of the fight.

* The jaw stab can be somewhat risky when facing multiple zombies because stabbing weapons have a short range, forcing you to get dangerously close.

* Besides knives, although there are numerous other stabbing weapons capable of performing a jaw stab, such as pens, pencils, spoons, forks, compasses, glass shivs, scissors, scalpels, stakes, letter openers, smashed bottles, old-style tin openers, and carving forks, etc., their durability is usually far too low to be practical.

Features

* A jaw stab can be triggered when multiple zombies are chasing you. (In Vanilla, this is impossible)

* Knives no longer get stuck in the victim’s body.

However, if you’d prefer to keep the vanilla knife-sticking feature, copy the zombie folder from the following directory, rather than the one specified in the next instruction:

C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappsworkshopcontent1086003455626548modsLimitlessJawStabInstaKills42Version retaining VANILLA knife-sticking feature (high probability of sticking)

Or, If you want knives to stick less frequently than in vanilla, copy the zombie folder from the following directory:

C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappsworkshopcontent1086003455626548modsLimitlessJawStabInstaKills42Version retaining low probability of knife-sticking feature (NONE VANILLA)

* In very close-range combat with zombies, your ability to defend yourself against bites has improved, but only when directly facing the zombie (to trigger the self-defence mechanism, you need to face the zombie directly from the front, not from the side) and holding a knife, not a pen, a fork, or any other objects.

* The range and durability of stabbing weapons has increased and can be adjusted through Sandbox Options or mods.

* This mod can be safely added to existing saves as well as new games.

How to Install

This mod modifies a vanilla Java file, so it requires both a subscription and manual installation. Follow the installation instructions below carefully to manually install the mod. Uninstallation can be done by verifying the integrity of game files through Steam (However, be aware that this process removes ALL mods that modify Java code, "the Java mods", so you’ll need to copy and paste them again afterward for any you want to keep.)

1. Subscribe to the Mod

  • First, make sure your game version is B42, not B41, and that the game is fully closed.
  • Then, subscribe to and enable Limitless Jaw Stab Insta Kills [B42] on the Steam Workshop.

2. Locate the Mod Folder
In File Explorer, navigate to your Steam Workshop directory, which by default is:

C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappsworkshopcontent1086003455626548modsLimitlessJawStabInstaKills42

(You may copy and paste the above path into the Windows search bar or File Explorer to quickly open it.)

3. Copy the “zombie” Folder
Within the 42 folder, locate a folder named “zombie.”
Right-click this folder and select “Copy.”

4. Find the Project Zomboid Installation Directory
Open a File Explorer window and navigate to your Project Zomboid installation folder. Typically, this can be found here:

C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonProjectZomboid

Make sure you see an existing “zombie” folder in this directory.

5. Paste and Replace Files
Paste the “zombie” folder from Step 3 into your main Project Zomboid folder. When prompted with a warning message indicating that 2 files already exist, choose “Replace the files in the destination.” This will overwrite the necessary files.

You have successfully installed Limitless Jaw Stab Insta Kills [B42]. Now you can play as Tiny, the Green Beret from the Commandos series.

Tips

1. If you’re using low-damage weapons like pens or pencils, a jaw stab might not result in an instant kill, but it will definitely knock the zombie down. Always use a knife when you can.

2. The same thing applies to moodles. When there are many negative moodles on screen, even performing a jaw stab will often only knock the target down rather than kill them.
