Description:

Why this mod exists

In Project Zomboid, tree sprites (even large 2x tiles) are capped at 384×512 px.
Result: “Jumbo” trees—supposed to be the tallest—can look oddly small next to buildings. Even a one-story house may feel taller than a massive tree.

What TreeZ does

TreeZ rescales the foliage visually without modifying the original textures.
The environment shifts from medium-looking trees to dense forests with towering canopies, improving immersion dramatically.

Key Features

✅ No performance impact
TreeZ only resizes textures that are already loaded, with no extra texture memory and no added rendering workload.

✅ More realistic forests
Bigger tree canopies make forests feel thicker, heavier, and more natural.

✅ Harder survival / reduced visibility
Denser foliage reduces sightlines, making navigation and spotting threats harder—ideal for players who want a more intense experience.

Compatibility / Notes

Visual-only change (scale), no gameplay stats altered

Works as a simple atmosphere upgrade; no texture replacements

Future / Deprecation Notice

Important: The Indie Stone (TIS) appears to be moving toward adding a similar feature officially in the future.
If/when that happens, TreeZ will be discontinued and this Workshop item will be retired, since the vanilla feature will be the proper long-term solution.
