[Frontlines] ’44 Compartment
Frontlines is a weapon project inspired by Battlefield 1, essentially seeking to bring a style of arcadey early 1900s weaponry to the workshop. It also serves as a way for me to improve on modeling weapons and, for the first time ever, animating them myself.

This mod contains the ’44 Compartment, a heavy-hitting slow-firing submachine gun to replace the Glompson series. Firing the same round but using bullets of dubious legality, the ’44 Compartment is partially named due to the grievous wounds it inflicts, reliably killing opponents in 3 body shots until about fifty meters, and dropping to 4 beyond that. Its slow fire rate gives it extremely tame recoil as well, making it as effective as the other longer ranged ‘proto-assault rifle’-type SMGs at the medium distance engagements, especially when prone. However, despite the trauma it causes on hit, its time to kill is longer than the Glompson and other SMGs due to that fire rate. The ’44 Compartment became a favorite of tank crews, which became the other source of its name, and even served as the basis for a few other weapons.
Historical Section: This is near 1:1 with the Vanilla Greaser, which is based on the M3A1 Grease Gun. It is depicted mostly accurately in terms of performance, to my knowledge. I remodeled the Greaser as a direct copy for an earlier Vanilla+ pack that never came to fruition, with ideas to make either the T-29 SMG in .30 carbine based on the M3, or a proto-firing port weapon based on anecdotes of M3s with M2HB or M240 springs, giving blistering fire rates. Never made either of those ideas, this is just reusing an asset I had laying around.
