Presidential Escort (VANILLA)
JUNE 26, 1991
Alright, listen up!
The President has successfully concluded a diplomatic visit to Iceland as part of a goodwill tour of the NATO member states, and will be taking off aboard Air Force One towards the United Kingdom for the next leg of the trip. Under normal circumstances, this entire thing would have been your standard, run-of-the-mill escort mission: follow Air Force One across the airspace and intercept anyone who attempts to get close. However, the Russians have just sent us an emergency message that suggests that a rogue splinter group of ex-Soviet forces may be about to attempt to shoot down the President en route.
We’re not quite sure exactly what the threat to the President may be (even the Russians themselves are still uncertain about the whole thing), but we can be confident that any threats to Air Force One will attempt to strike mid-flight within the Atlantic Ocean. NATO airbases within Iceland and the UK have been put on full alert and will be ready to deploy at a moment’s notice; prepare for anything, and understand that Air Force One’s survival takes precedence above all else!
