Restore Low Countries Culture and More
The Low Countries: Divided by Culture and Language but Once United under Frankish Rule!
Discover the gameplay opportunities throughout the start dates:
867: Wrath of The Northmen (Hrörekr of Dorestad and Gerulf of Zeeland), The Great adventurers (Wichmann of Gelre and Erenfried of Aachen) and The Carolingians (Boudewijn of Vlaanderen)
1066: The Fate of England (Boudewijn V of Vlaanderen) and Rags to Riches (Dirk V of Holland and Gerhard II of Aachen)
1178: Swords of Faith (Boudewijn V of Henegouwen, Floris III of Holland and Wilhelm II of Maastricht)
For a more challenging experience you can play as one of the vassals (or otherwise related to) of the aforementioned people:
– Hrörekr of Dorestad -> Hrodulfr of Oostfriesland
– Gerulf of Zeeland -> Radboud of Holland
– Wichmann of Gelre -> Meginhard of Zutphen
– Dirk V of Holland -> Robrecht of Zeeland
– Floris III of Holland -> Dirk VII of Zeeland
Gameplay tips:
– If you want to play as a noble of Wallon or Vlaams culture you can grant a title to a local Wallon or Vlaams noble and Switch Character to play as them.
– As Boudewijn of Vlaanderen it is only possible to take direct part in the Conquest of England if you somehow are able to form an alliance with William of Normandy which is only possible if you play the game in Debug mode and under DEBUG: Main choose Make Ally. You can then Offer to Join War as normal.
– As Boudewijn V of Henegouwen if you want to ally with your uncle you might have to Switch Character to the uncle and send an Alliance Proposal as him and then Switch Character back to Boudewijn V of Henegouwen.
You can also always create your own character with a specific culture to shape your own story! You can also do Switch Character to any character to play as them instead!
Restore Low Countries Culture and More: French areas to Dutch or Franconian and Dutch areas to Frisian and Saxon. Gradual change through start dates of Dutch to French in South Flanders and gradual change of Frisian to Dutch in Holland and more. Also changes area names according to culture and culture changes. Also changes House names according to culture and Duchy of Holland changed to Duchy of Frisia in the 867 start date. Also added Vlaams and Wallon. Also added new gameplay opportunities to start dates.
French and Dutch are used like celtic and germanic to desribe the people living in Belgium and the Netherlands instead of taking Flemish and Frisian into account so those cultures have been expanded, Flemish as Dutch. For some reason Frisian does not appear as a culture until the 1178 start date so Frisian has been added in the other start dates too. Also for some reason Luxembourg is French instead of Franconian so that is changed too.
The devs could not decide on making the Frisians Dutch, Frisian or Norse so they made the culture of the areas Dutch and the rulers Dutch or Norse. They also made the south of the Low Countries French for some reason while it should be Dutch. They also made Luxembourg French while Franconian would be more appropriate. They also excluded Saxons from the east of the Low Countries and did not add the Flemish or Walloon culture.
