Description:

ROLEPLAY HISTORY SCENARIO

The former Mandate of Mesopotamia has just gained formal independence from the British Empire, but true sovereignty remains elusive for King Faisal. British advisors shape military decisions, foreign oil interests dominate Iraqi policy, and all major industries are in foreign hands. The British still hold airbases and control key sectors through the Iraq Petroleum Company, based at the first oilfield in Kirkuk.

The Hashemite monarchy balances precariously between nationalist demands and imperial realities. Now, it falls to you to chart Iraq’s destiny — toward independence, prosperity, or subjugation.

Beneath the sands of Iraq lies a dark treasure. Yet the vital export infrastructure remains incomplete. The Iraq Petroleum Company’s pipeline to the Mediterranean lies half-built, stalled by political wrangling and engineering challenges. As leader, your mission is clear: finish the pipeline, connect Iraq to the world market, and turn oil into the lifeblood of a modern economy.

Missteps could embolden army officers already whispering of a nationalist coup, eager to sweep away the monarchy and impose pan-Arab military rule. The stakes are high: foreign influence, internal unrest, and military ambition all threaten your fragile Arab kingdom. The fate of Iraq lies in your hands.

ABOUT THIS MAP

The map is inspired by Iraq in 1932, just after it gained independence. There are some infrastructures built by the British, such as the Kirkuk refinery and the oil pipelines that were being built towards the Mediterranean ports by the Iraq Petroleum Company.

Most cities and towns are underdeveloped, and only Baghdad has some industry and services. There are good railway lines but little space to build export ports. The fertile Mesopotamian land offers great opportunities for agrarian reform.

The Early Start DLC is required, and I have used a lot of building and vehicle mods for the scenario. If you don’t subscribe to all of them, many necessary buildings will not appear.

The map is very beautiful, with many historical details, and offers plenty of space to create an economy beyond oil. I have put a lot of time and love into it. I hope you enjoy it too.

NEXT OBJECTIVES

You will see that I have personally modified a poster mod so that I can put up propaganda posters of historical Iraqi leaders and other advertisements. I am trying to simplify it so that I can upload it and make more posters for my other maps.

The next ones I have in mind are a Nasserist Egypt and Francoist Spain maps.

Please let me know what you think!
