Description:

This MOD adds the military orders of the Crusade, as unique units, wonders, worship buildings, Great Generals, and more!

Military Orders

Each of the military order is represented by a unique unit unlocked with various ways. These zealous heavy cavalry units must be purchased with Faith in cities with a Temple, receive +5 Combat Strength when fighting civilizations of other Religions, and convert captured cities to their majority Religions. In addition, they also have powerful unique abilities: Hospitaller Knights: Land units within 1 tile (including itself) heal +20 additional HP. Teutonic Knights: Has a charge of Secure Foothold. Using the charge will fully restore its hit points, and -1 Movement and +5 Strength permanently. Templar Knights: +50% experience. While the Templar Knights cannot be upgraded, it has a unique promotion tree that focuses on summoning additional units and granting economic bonuses (including instantly completing Commercial Hub buildings like Banks, but sacrifices the unit).

Wonders and Worship buildings

The first way to unlock the military order units is by building their headquarter wonders: The Krak des Chevaliers grants 3 Hospitaller Knights and 3 Military Engineers. The Ordensburg Marienburg (Malbork Castle) grants 3 Teutonic Knights and 3 Military Engineers. Because the Dome of the Rock, used as the Templum Domini of the Knights Templar, is already online, a new worship building is added to represent their widespread influence: The Templar Preceptory has higher cost than other worship buildings, but grants a Templar Knight when completed.

Great Generals

The second way to unlock the military order units is by activating their Grandmasters (as newly-added Medieval Great Generals). Each Grandmaster grants a military order unit with a promotion when activated. Templar Knight: Robert de Sabl矇 Hospitaller Knight: Raymond du Puy Teutonic Knight: Hermann von Salza

Compatibility Changes

Several civilizations, City-State suzerain bonuses and wonders can also unlock one or more military order units. Templar Knight: Temple of Solomon Hospitaller Knight: Valetta’s suzerain, Merrick’s Malta Teutonic Knight: Germany The suzerain of Jerusalem and Vatican City unlocks all three military order units. In addition, if player controls both Dome of the Rock and another military order wonder/building, it works as Templum Domini and grants 3 Templar Knights and 3 Military Engineers (like the other military order headquarter wonders). Deus vult!

Compatibility Change: Medieval Expansion

When Medieval Expansion is active, you may also unlock Templar Knights, Hospitaller Knights and Teutonic Knights as your Order of Chivalry bonuses. The Teutonic Knight and Great Generals in Medieval Expansion are replaced. Supports English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Japanese.

Notes
  • The name "Ordensburg Marienburg" is used instead of its modern name "Malbork Castle" to reflect the time period when it is used as the headquarter of the Teutonic Knights.
  • The Hospitaller Knights have different appearances to reflect their history. When gained in the Medieval Era or before, the Hospitaller Knights are adorned in black with a white cross. When gained in the Renaissance Era or afterwards, the Hospitaller Knights are adorned in red with a white Maltese cross.
