Trader Rework
A personal rework to the Wandering Trader. On the one hand, making him more regular and reliable, especially as regard basic resources. On the other hand, adding interesting variety that also elaborates on his story. He especially reminds me of the Hunter Pig from the Hamlet Boar’s Tusk Weapon Shop. This rework mainly has in mind minimalist maps under the theme of scarcity. The additions are either medium-rare resources that won’t be scarce at all in a full-sized vanilla world, or half-obscure items that can be really handy at the right time.
CREEPINESS
– Wandering Trader will only appear at Dusk, and disappear at the end of the Night. He will not appear under the full moon.
– He will appear in the day time in the caves
WARES
– Pigskin has been replaced by Gold, to form a nice and clean three-way contrast between vegetal, animal and mineral, since we can’t remove Beefalo Wool, which the guy is already wearing. 3-Pigskin items now cost 4 Gold Nuggets.
– His wares will reroll every day
– He will ALWAYS have TWO item from the "Uncommon" pool and ONE item from the "Rare" pool, however, the more important items like Living Logs and Gears will effectively be rarer because of the new items added
– The "Uncommon" pool will all cost Beefalo Wool, the "Rare" trades will all cost Gold
ASH TRADES
– Rocks and Logs, also for 1 Ash
– Spider Glands for 1 Ash, a nice healing source for new players
– These are all in the "ALWAYS" category, to make his wares more regular and reliable, and all costing 1 single Ash, and available in Winter too. 4 ~ 5 items will be available each day, except spider gland which he’ll only sell 1
BEEFALO WOOL TRADES
– For 1 Beefalo Wool: Hounds Tooth, Bone Shard, Silk, Stinger
– Cut Reeds moved to the "Uncommon" pool for 1 Beefalo Wool
– These all cost 1 Beefalo Wool, from which 2 prefab are available each day for 2 ~ 3 item for purchase
GOLD TRADES
– Pigskin now cost 4 Gold since the last time he got in trouble with the Pig King
– Living Log and Gears moved to the more rare "Rare" pool, costing 4 Gold Nuggets. Gears will no longer be sold at the very beginning
– For 4 Gold: Burrowing Horn, Tallbird Egg, Lavae Egg, Malbatross Beak, Catcoon Tail, Koalefant Trunk, but all of these will be fighting for the one and same "Rare" spot alongside Gears and Living Log
– These all cost 4 Gold Nuggets, from which 1 prefab is available each day for 1 item for purchase
SEASONAL TRADES
– Frog Legs in Spring for 1 Beefalo Wool
UPDATE NOTES
– I gave up on the idea of maintaining multiple currencies, and readjusted the price all under the unique currency of gold. It makes more sense, and the idea of unity is very appealing. Common resources are now sold in bulk between 7 to 8. Rare resources are all in 3 ~ 4s. He will now also accept Beefalo Horn for 5 ~ 6 gold, and will pay 1 gold for 10 pieces of Beefalo Wool
– He will no longer proactively seek out clients, but he’s got a nice map icon now
