Watch out, deer. Elysium has a new Master.
The Isekai Mod, or ‘Outsider’ Mod as is the name of the new faction added by this mod, is an extra class mod that adds the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage idea ever conceived, that being the shoehorn of an overpowered Isekai protagonist with all the terrible clichés and tropes involved.
Why, exactly? I don’t know. It just seemed extremely hilarious to me and it’s a good way to practice drawing sprites.
So how does this mod work, exactly?
You play as the Outsider, an ordinary japanese high-school student who is actually the reincarnation of a thirty-year old virgin who became a wizard after hitting the max level in a virtual reality MMO. After dying to a familiar speeding truck, the Outsider attracted the attention of mysterious Gods who have tasked him with defeating the Demon Lords that plague the lands of Elysium.
The Outsider counts with two main tools that fuel his heroic spree of dubious morality across Elysium. The first is a magical smartphone that provides him numerous benefits through its fantastic apps, and the second is a strange yet powerful portal known as the ‘Otherworld Gate’. The Gate generates resources in the form of gold and relics, which the Outsider can tap into using his smartphone to make use of one of various summoning rituals.
What summons do you have?
Normally, there would be a vast selection of powerful monsters available for summoning… But the Outsider is here to enjoy his cheat life with a harem and that’s what he’s going to get, triple-digit hp sponges be damned. As a result, every ritual Tier that the Outsider has revolves around acquiring a different type of girl for his… Collection.
Summoning these commanders is the main gameplay loop of this mod, as every new type of girl unlocks additional options for your faction, from garrisoning tiles for free to recruiting all sorts of cost-efficient mercenary companies.
Tier 1 – Acquire Human (25 Relics)
Recruits from a bunch of different human commanders, each with a unique ritual tree and abilities that they specialize in. They are generally oriented for the early game but are pretty strong and can easily tide you over through the mid-game and even dip into late depending on your decisions and their numbers.
Tier 1.5 – Empower Noble (50 Relics)
Perhaps the T1 should be called Acquire Peasant instead? In any case, this T1.5 is reserved for stronger human units I’ve been adding into the mod. They’re not cheap enough to fall into the 25 Relic gacha pool, but they make up for the double price by having stronger rituals than their counterparts and lategame potential. Currently WIP and only has a single summon.
Tier 2 – Purchase Demi-Human Slave (75 Relics)
Yeah, of course this one’s in too. Have you seen what Isekai shows are airing out there on kids’ TV?
T2 are meant to act as the bulk of your forces during the mid to late game, even potentially into the extended late game. They have a couple of bulky units and spellcasters begin to go beyond the human hp ranges, while adding dips into various rituals.
Tier 3 – Reincarnate Ancient Hero (200 Relics)
The third tier summons powerful late game units designed to help you breach into the extended late game by giving you access to more resources and new planes to expand into. They aren’t designed for a standard COE5 game but rather for a lengthy plane-diving campaign. As such they are super strong, but some are stronger than others and enter the realm of supercombatants.
Tier 4 – High Extraplanars (Varies)
Obscenely powerful units on the level of Doom Horrors and Demon Lords. These outsiders serve the purpose of opening up all of Elysium’s planes and secrets to you, while serving as worthy super-combatants that can take on the worst Elysium has to offer. High Extraplanars are broken up into separate rituals because I found no good way to provide unique summons without spawning them into the map otherwise. Currently only Celestial Extraplanars are available.
That sounds pretty expensive.
It IS expensive, but you have the means to build up your economy by opening up new portals for your extradimensional sugar daddies to feed you more relics every turn. So long as you keep expanding and taking new citadels you will snowball into a strong economy regardless of terrain.
However… It’s entirely possible that you could summon the same type of human commander several times in the early game, which would be quite frustrating as you will often want the options that another type provides. The units are meant to be synergistic, so owning just one type can be a real pain.
But that’s gacha for you. All men must suffer it.
…I hate you for making this.
Don’t worry. I hate myself too.
