You must launch the game from Shader Modding Support Launcher (SMS Launcher). Otherwise shaders in this mod will not compile properly!

Known compatibility issue: If you want to use 《Cold War Alter 1971》 mod, you must delete the "shader" folder from its "gamlogic.pak": For some reason, this mod includes an old version of GOH vanilla shader file, which causes shader files to be scrambled and cannot be compiled properly.

0. Quick Guide

Follow the steps below to quickly activate this mod!

  • Subscribe to PBR mod and SMS launcher
  • Find the launcher exe file in your workshop folder, typically in "SteamLibrarysteamappsworkshopcontent4007503410344592GOHShaderModdingSupportLauncherWPF.exe"
  • Move GOHShaderModdingSupportLauncherWPF.exe to your preferred location and open it!
  • Load PBR mod in Mod Manager
  • Launch game from Launcher tab -> Main Game/Editor button
  • Enjoy!

Having issues? Try these quick fixes!

Game crashes on launch

  • Run launcher as administrator
  • If it still fails, add the launcher to your antivirus whitelist
Launcher won’t open

  • Use the backup: GOHSMSLauncherWPFNet6.exe
  • Old Windows (7/8) may not be supported. Tell us you need support via official website[fed-studio.com].
Mod manager not working

  • Disable Steam Cloud for GoH
  • Go to Launcher -> Utilities -> Open Shader Cache Folder
  • Find "gates of hellprofiles" folder
  • Make sure your user (latest modified) is listed first
  • If not, delete other folders until it is
  • This happens because multiple accounts aren’t supported yet. Let us know you need it via the official website[fed-studio.com].
1. Introduction

This mod provides PBR (Physically Based Rendering) shader support for Gate of Hell, along with runtime automatic conversion of vanilla non-PBR materials.
This means existing contents will NOT be broken by the change in rendering method; instead, thery will look even better!

2. New Features

  • Physically Based Rendering
  • Automatic Phong to PBR Conversion
  • Full Emissive Texture Support

2.1 Physically Based Rendering

Global PBR rendering has been added, meaning any model in the game now renders under PBR.

Specific features supported:

  1. Automatic Phong to PBR conversion for vanilla models and textures
  2. Support for pure PBR textures via MTL changes

2.2 Automatic Phong to PBR Conversion

Added runtime automatic conversion from Phong (GOH native textures and rendering method) to PBR rendering.
Specific features supported:

  1. Automatic runtime conversion of textures without any additional work
  2. Enhanced automatic conversion support via additional MTL identifiers

2.3 Full Emissive Texture Support

Added support for emissive textures. The following features are supported:

  1. Specify per-pixel emissive intensity and color via textures
  2. Supported only in pure PBR texture mode
