Water Stage Template
You know what Rivals of Aether needs? Water physics. So I went ahead and made some myself!
You can copy and use this handy template to build your own water stages!
– Slower fall speed underwater!
– 5 extra jumps to "swim" with!
– Three different splash animations based on the speed, size, and weight of a character!
– Optional damage tick while underwater!
– Article 1 represents the water, and it’s location is the water height. You can adjust it in the stage editor or manually adjust the height (y) in article1_init.
– To adjust the amount of jumps granted while underwater, go to other_init and change the max_water_djumps variable. (For example, for 8 underwater jumps, change it to 8!)
– If you want your water to deal damage, go to article1_init and change the water_damage and water_damage_tick variables.
– To change height levels or damage tick in Aether Mode, you can use the provided if(is_aether_stage()) space to make adjustments. If you don’t want aether mode changes, just delete the block.
– Certain super light workshop characters may float up to the waters surface! (The only example I found of this was a meme character, but keep that in mind!)
– Underwater jumps are additive. Your normal double jumps get used first, then your underwater ones.
– You gain your normal double jump back when you leave the water.
– This code is only for stages that are submerged in water, not for stages with small pools of water. You could probably find a way to edit the code to change that, but that’s a you choice.
– The water surface line is a really long 1-pixel wide png. Just thought I’d let you know!
