Side1iners ‘Plus’ Series
The vision of the ‘Plus’ series is to make every save, every colonist, every item and every hour played a little more special.
RimWorld is already a great, fantastic game. But in all its greatness, I sometimes feel the emptiness of the big, endless space around me. The drama the game can create is often amazing. Funny. Sad. But I don’t only want the shenanigans RimWorld can provide. I also want to enjoy a more calm and gentle experience in between the raids, the crushed miners and the failing crops.
For me, the area of the game that needs the most depth, or perhaps rather body, is the colony itself. Who are our colonists? Why are they insulting each other? Why do this pawn and that pawn become lovers? I want more personality. And this series of mods is about that.
The way I usually fill the in-betweens, as I see them, is by making each piece of the puzzle a little more unique and special. I do this by using different kinds of systems for randomizing elements of the game that otherwise is stale and predictable.
‘Personality Plus’ adds a system of personality and preferences to the game, giving each colonist (and pawn in general) a little more depth. Fueled by the traits added in ‘Traits Plus’ as well as the option to have more traits for each pawn using ‘Traits Slots Plus’ it’s a start.
‘Randomized Items Plus’ put a randomizing system in place for weapons and armor. That means every charge rifle is a little special; a little different from all the others.
‘Possessions Plus’ give your pawns a way to connect to these same items; their weapons and armor. They can claim ownership, inherit, gift and name their favorite items. You, the player, are, of course, ultimately in control of it if you want.
Hopefully, these mods will fill some of these in-betweens. If you have a suggestion on how to keep expanding this work, all feedback is appreciated!
