Gun Stances
Ever thought it was strange you could hold a gun in Rimworld, but not HOW you hold your gun? No? Me Neither. But here you go anyway! This mod adds several different gun stances!

This mod adds several new gun stances in the form of a toggleable gizmo (or several seperate, clickable gizmos if you enable it in the settings). Each gun stance is based off of real-world examples of how someone might shoot their gun!
Now, when your pawn grabs a ranged weapon, you’ll have a new "Stance" gizmo. Each stance offers different levels of accuracy, reload speed, damage, and even flare! The Stances are as follows:
1. Standard: This is your balanced firing stance. It doesn’t have any drawbacks, but it also doesn’t add any benefits. It’s the vanilla experience.
2. Sideways: Don’t care about accuracy? Always thought that movie characters who shoot with their gun sideways looked cool? Choose this option! Your accuracy will tank, but in turn, you tend to shoot faster and get a mood buff about how cool you look!
3. Hip Fire: Are you a fan of westerns? Saw the new Metal Gear Solid Delta release and want to emulate your inner Revolver Ocelot? This is the option for you! At the cost of accuracy, you tend to do a little more damage, and shoot quicker.
4. Hold Breath: Long, drawn out battles your thing? Now, in exchange for shooting speed, you get a massive buff to accuracy and damage! Snipers rejoice!
5. Trickshot: This stance is for all the people that love fancy shots, and don’t care so much about shooting speed or accuracy. Damage is the main thing when shooting a gun, and doing it stylishly is all the better!
6. Psyshot: Thought it strange that your Psycaster is limited to using their Psychic powers psychically like some sort or normie loser? No more! At the cost of Psyfocus and Neural Heat gain, psychically influence each bullet to have better accuracy and more damage.
7. Coin-Shot: Iconic to a lot of shows and games, now you too can throw a coin (silver) into the air and shoot it! This Stance requires a pawn have at least 5 Silver (by default; check the settings) in your pawn’s inventory. Two projectiles shoot out for each shot, the coin, and the actual bullet! Make sure that you don’t have any loved ones nearby, because they can 100% get shot by the stray coin if you’re not careful!
8. CQB: Quick, up close and personal gunfights tend to make for high-action events, and so this mode adds just that! You’ll get 4 different rings around your pawn (actually visible via a toggleable secondary gizmo exclusively seen while using this Stance). Each ring level has different levels of firing rate, accuracy, etc. The closer and enemy is, the faster you shoot, the more accurate you are, and so on. The opposite is true if an enemy pawn is farther away.
Having your own pawns use unique shooting styles is cool, but even cooler is having the entire world use them! If you enable it in the settings, now every single pawn that uses a ranged weapon will get a Stance! Recently downloaded Ferny’s Worldbuilder mod, but want all pawns to be Hip Firing cowboys? You’re in luck, because also in the settings is a bunch of presets for world pawn gizmo choices! Have an entire planet of Trickshot Marksmen, Gangsters, or more!
But what if you don’t like how I’ve set up the accuracy/damage/firing rate/Psyfocus/etc.? Well, you’re in luck! In the settings page, you can customize just about everything! Fine tune exactly the percentage that each style uses, how much Psyfocus/Neural Heat gain Psyshot costs, and if you’ve got the AI involved, you can even customize the world distribution (if you want to go beyond just presets)! Play how you want to! No limits.

The textures were all completely made by myself from scratch in Photoshop. As always, though, I did my best to mirror the Vanilla feel to the best of my ability.
Beyond that, I’m a texture person, not a coder, so I used ChatGPT for the majority of the XML and C#.
Performance shouldn’t be an issue. There’s no per-tick code, and only runs on shots, damage application, and when drawing selected pawn gizmos. The mod uses cached lookups, so no heavy allocations. It’s designed to be effectively invisible to TPS/FPS, even in large battles.
Compatibility should be okay. Mods that alter stats like accuracy and such should stack multiplicatively. Other mods like CE may cause some damage amount issues depending on how it handles things like that (I don’t know since I don’t use it). Custom weapon mods that use their own shooting logic might not work with Psyshot, but that should be a rare use-case.
TL;DR: Performance and compatibility should be fine overall.

Q: Mid save compatible?
A: I would err towards a new save, but in theory it should be fine.
Q: Mid save removable?
A: I REALLY wouldn’t, but in theory it should be fine. It’s never smart to remove a mod mid save though.
Q: AI!?
A: Yes.
Q: This works with all ranged weapons. That’s not realistic!
A: It is technically possible to hip fire with a grenade or sideways shoot a rifle. Technically. Don’t think about it too much.
Q: I changed the stats in the settings, but the tooltip hasn’t updated!
A: It’s cached. Give it a few seconds and re-hover over it. You should see the new percentages.
Q: Can I disable AI pawns from using X Stance?
A: Yes, in the settings.
Q: Do non-humanoid pawns (mechs, etc.) get Stances?
A: No, not currently. It’s a planned feature.
Q: Does this change melee, turrets, mortars, etc.?
A: No. Melee will be it’s own mod. Turrets and mortars…we’ll see. Depends on the community’s reaction.
Q: I set the AI to the Psyop preset, but pawns are still spawning with a standard Stance!
A: Yeah, Psyshot only appears on pawns with a Psylink. If you use the Psyop preset, non-Psycaster pawns will just use a regular Stance.
Q: I don’t see Coin-Shot!
A: It only appears on pawns with the appropriate amount of silver in their inventory.
Q: How can I see the CQB range rings?
A: Make sure CQB is your Stance, then click the new gizmo that appears with it.
Q: I found a bug!
A: Please give me a log, and I’ll do my best to fix it!
