Description:

The Churchill VII was a British heavy infantry tank introduced in 1943 as an upgraded version of earlier Churchill models. It featured significantly thicker armor (up to 152 mm on the front) making it one of the most well-protected Allied tanks of World War II. The tank retained the Churchill series’ signature design elements, such as a long chassis and excellent cross-country mobility, which made it well-suited for supporting infantry in difficult terrain. It was armed with a 75 mm gun, allowing it to effectively engage both fortified positions and enemy armor. The Churchill VII first saw action during the Battle of Normandy and proved its worth in close-support roles. Its heavy armor allowed it to survive hits that would destroy other tanks, though it was relatively slow and underpowered. The tank was also used as the basis for several specialized vehicles, including flame-throwers and bridge-layers.
