Fukui Railway F1000 Series / 福井鉄道F1000形
The F1000 Series (F1000形) is a low-floor tram vehicle operated by Fuku-i Railway.
A three-car articulated tram built from 2013-2016, the F1000 Series "FUKU-RAM" is the first new vehicle to enter service after Fuku-i Railway left the Meitetsu Group. It was manufactured with financial assistance provided by local and national governments under a revitalization plan. The F1000 series replaced the remaining larger train style vehicles left on the Fuku-bu Line, which were primarily used during rush hour for their higher capacity. In order to handle demand from commuters and students, this type has a relatively long length of 27.16 meters, and a capacity only slightly lower than the 200 series high floor trains. On the interior, most seats are in a cross layout with bays of 4, while there are long seats next to some of the doors. 2 Wheelchair spaces are installed per vehicle, which also have foldable long seats. A total of 4 trams were built, all operating on the Fuku-bu Line. Since 2016, there has also been direct service with Echizen Railway’s Mikuni Awara Line. To reduce operating costs, the F1000 series have a common maintenance regime with Echizen Railway’s L series.
