Construction Modes

This mod adds one toggle button to the construction panel that lets you choose whether to build using government funding or private investment.

Important: If you are loading a saved game that did not have this mod, the toggle button will appear within one month of gameplay.

Private Construction Mode

When you enable private construction mode, your manually queued buildings will be funded by private investors instead of government money. Private construction is available for all buildings except:

  1. government buildings;
  2. foreign investments;
  3. the first buildings of their type in the region;
  4. buildings added by mods.

Private constructions are owned by manor houses and financial districts.
They cannot be directly owned by companies.

The investment pool queues buildings when possible.
The algorithm is not modified in any way.

Important: If a building is not queued when the button is clicked, it may be due to an interaction with another mod preventing the building from being added to the queue outside the control of this mod. Consider changing other mods options or queue the building as a government construction.

Important: If Controllable Private Construction and Controllable Private Construction Addons are active in the current game session and placed above this mod, the private construction mode will queue buildings to the private construction queue regardless of the restrictions set forth by these mods. It is thus possible to restrict the private investors from automatically queueing a specific type of building while it is still possible to manually queue a building of that type from time to time.

Note: The button in the lens menu will not work for buildings that cannot be built in the current mode. For instance, it will not queue administration buildings as long as the private construction mode is activated.

Note: The map button when the lens menu is open will always be queued in the public construction queue regarless of the active construction mode.

Government Construction Mode

When you enable government construction mode, the behavior remains unchanged from the vanilla version. All buildings are queued in the government construction queue.

The investment pool automatically queues buildings in the private construction queue.

Building Restriction Mode

The Controllable Private Construction and Controllable Private Construction Addons mods can be used to restrict private constructions in different ways, ban constructions for a specific industry or in a specific state for instance.
This mod takes it further and makes it possible to ban constructions for specific buildings.

If both of those mods are used in the current game session and placed above this mod, two more toggle buttons are added as soon as the corresponding journal entry of those mods is activated.

The first button enables or restricts private investors from constructing a specific building, either domestically or abroad.
It is located in the building panel, building registry, and production methods panel; for each applicable building.
Such buildings can still manually be queued to either the government construction queue or the private construction queue depending on the Construction Mode being used.

The second button has two uses.
The first use indicates the status (allowed, barred, mixed) of the first button of every building of its type.
The second use allows to cycle through the different values for every building of its type (mixed to allowed, allowed to barred, barred to allowed).
The button is located, only if the domestic filter is on, in the building registry and in the production methods panel at the building type level. It is not available for foreign buildings and thus not available when the domestic filter of the registry is off.

Domestic Building Restriction Mode

If the aforementionned mods prevent some buildings from being built domestically, the button is greyed out and indicates why private constructions are barred for this building specifically.

Conversely, if a domestic building is not prevented from being added to the private construction queue by these mods, the button can be toggled on and off to indicate whether this specific building can automatically be queued in the private construction queue.

Foreign Building Restriction Mode

Important: This is only available for games with a single player.
Note: This is not transitive and only works for buildings in a country where you have direct investment rights. It is not possible to control per building construction to vassals of a country in which you can invest.

If the aforementionned mods do not prevent foreign buildings from being queued to the private construction queue, the button is greyed out and indicates that the foreign building can be queued.
Conversely, if a foreign building is prevented from being added to the private construction queue by these mods, the button can be toggled on and off to indicate whether this specific foreign building can automatically be queued in the private construction queue.

Revert to version 1.12

  • Download the zip file[limewire.com];
  • Find the user game folder (‘Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria 3’ on Windows);
  • Decompress the downloaded zip in the ‘mod’ folder (this will install the mod locally);
  • Start the game but stay in the launcher;
  • Go to the ‘Mod Library’ tab, you should see the mod twice;
  • Go to the ‘Playsets’ tab;
  • Uncheck the mod to deactivate it;
  • Click ‘Add more mods’ tab to add the local mod, it should list available mods that are not in the playset yet; and
  • Add the local mod.

To later determine which mod versions are listed in a playset in order to revert to the online version, use the three dots. If it lists ‘Open in Steam Workshop’ in addition to ‘Show in folder’, it is the online subscribed mod. For a local mod, it will only list ‘Show in folder’.
