Description:
"Distinguished men-at-arms handpicked by their lords to be their personal retinue."

Based on my own take of Bretonnian infantry and 3rd Edition regarding "retainers and men-at-arms" and artillery.

Here’s a whole roster of new Bretonnian men-at-arms infantry! These troops are meant to be retainers (a personal retinue) for a Lord, guarding him, his belongings, and his castle with their lives. The soldiers would be considered veterans who survived the horrors of war and chosen based on skill. Being a retainer, they would have access to better armor such as chain-mail and better training. Weapons would be a step-up from what a typical men-at-arms would have (for the most part). After all, you don’t really want some lowly peasant defending your stuff.

All units have the animations of the elves (minus the bombard) and I really think they would look pretty cool on some humans. These units are meant to replace vanilla men-at-arms later in the campaign in their typical roles (peasant bowmen, polearms, swordsmen). In addition, the longbowmen have armor-piercing capabilities and longer range, crossbowmen act as hybrid infantry (skirmishers with shields and decent melee stats), the polearms retainers have large shields, and a bombard for your siege warfare/anti-large needs. It’s a Empire great cannon but don’t worry about it.

They can be recruited by all Bretonnian factions at the level 4 royal barracks. They’re all affected by the peasant economy, peasant bowmen upgrades (longbowmen/crossbows), trebuchet upgrades (bombard), and men-at-arms upgrades (polearms/swords). There were some last minutes changes in regards to the crossbowmen (they can now vanguard deploy). In addition, crossbowmen and longbowmen require the carpentry buildings. The bombard requires the siege workshop.
