Lua Console – BETA
This mod introduces a new bit of UI – the Lua Console – that can be accessed from any game mode, between campaign/battle or even the frontend menu. The Lua Console allows the user to type in Lua code and execute Lua scripts on the fly.
I wanted to get this beta version out to let others start coding some stuff, and so I could share this before it’s fully finished. I have further plans for it – some more functionality, and a full-screen UI – but I want to get a few other mods updated or created before I focus more on this mod. So, here it is!
This is a modder resource, to make experimenting with Lua code easier in-game.
Yes. This mod is compatible with whatever you say. Save-game compatible, can be added or removed, whatever.
My first planned update is implementing the full-screen UI, to read the code a bit better instead of having to go between lines or read in the one line you’re on. After that, I’m planning on pulling some functionality from the WH2 Lua Console – namely, printing stuff to the Lua Console.
If you have specific requests, please let me know!
Known issues with the mod:
– Typing in the text input lags the game a lot. This is a vanilla issue, same thing happens with the vanilla text inputs. It also might just be my rig, let me know if it happens to you as well.
– That’s it, I think!
If this mod simply isn’t working or loading, verify the following:
– This mod is subscribed to on Steam
– This mod is enabled in the CA Mod Manager (press "Mod Manager" in the launcher)
– The load order has not been altered in the CA Mod Manager
– There is no "user.script.txt" file in "Z:/Users/[UserName]/AppData/Roaming/The Creative Assembly/ThreeKingdoms/scripts". If you added one before the Workshop was posted, you need to remove it – the game is reading from the mods specified in that file, and is ignoring the ones in the Mod Manager.
If you would like to communicate with me any further than "doesn’t work", don’t send me a Steam request. I’m just gonna press ‘ignore’ and go on with my day, Steam is yucky and I don’t like communicating over it. Come join me and a bunch of friends in the Modding Den, a Discord channel. We’ve got a bunch of cool modders, a lot of help, a good amount of resources, and you can stay in the loop on planned updates and stuff for a lot of modders. It’s a great place for people who like mods, or Total War, or gaming in general, or want to learn how to mod, or just want to hang. Come join!
