Interesting facts about George Washington:
*George Washington is commonly seen by both historians and the public as one of the best -if not THE best – presidents in United States history, especially regarding his decision to step down after serving two terms instead of staying in office for life, setting a precedent that is arguably one of the greatest in political history.
*Washington had a deep love of ice cream and would frequently serve it to guests visiting his estate.
*Washington wore horribly uncomfortable prosthetic teeth throughout his life, which is why he never smiles in historical artwork.
*Despite his historical reputation and public perception as a great leader and warrior, Washington was actually a below-average general who lost more battles than he won during his lifetime. He was, however, a master of espionage and spying, which served him well during the Revolutionary War.
*Washington is, by US law, the most senior member of the United States armed forces, which means that no one will ever outrank him.
*Despite the fact that his face is everywhere in the United States in the form of the dollar bill, portraits, paintings, and portrayals by actors, there are no photographs of Washington due to him dying before photography was invented. Kinda mind-blowing when you think about it.
