Description:

Insurgents are primarily recruited via covert op, but they can be trained in the gts; they are versatile soldiers that can be trained for a variety of roles. Due to their semi-randomized skill tree, no two are alike.

Nearly everything about the class is configurable, so you can refine the class to your taste.

The intention here is to create a basic soldier class that can fulfill all mission requirements without eclipsing any of the other soldier classes when it comes to specialized roles or functions.

By default the Insurgent can equip a rifle, smg, combat knife, and gremlin.
When the gremlin is equipped, they gain access to basic gremlin functions – enough to complete mission objectives and provide a little utility, but they are outclassed easily by gremlin classes.

The combat knife provides "run and slice" but not any basic melee attacks.

They can, at current, unlock the ability to use a cannon, shotgun, sniper rifle and sword through rank progression.

Their Master SGT rank is slightly randomized, so each insurgent will potentially have different valid build paths, so you can spam the class and each soldier will retain a somewhat unique identity and skill set.

Explanation of Configurability:

Each of the "Identity Perks" on the class tree are just ‘wrappers’
The abilities that they provide are determined in the config
The class currently uses my suggested defaults – but any perk on the tree can be easily changed in config to provide any additional ability, provided you input a working ability template name.

For example, the Shotgun Proficiency, or the ‘finesse’ identity provides Dedication_LW as an additional ability determined in the config, but if you decided you wanted the hard target ability instead.

So in the config XComOperantRoles.ini
Scroll to the IDENTITY Perks section, and replace Dedication_LW with HardTarget
so from that point on, the Shotgun Proficiency perk will grant HardTarget instead of Dedication
You can also use that same config to add any number of additional abilities by creating a new line
+IDFinesseAbilities=HardTarget (or whatever)

This allows you to freely edit the class without replacing the icons or existing abilities.

For the MSGT Doctrines you can find them in XComBasicDoctrines.ini – for example if you decide the everwatch doctrine should provide guardian instead of sentinel, or neither, or both…

Big thanks to Anthogator for the class icon.
