Description:

A mod in which the East-West schism is mended by diplomacy rather than domination, and the sword is directed only at heathens rather than brothers in Christ.

Features:

* Thread a needle of scholarship, diplomacy, and conquest to convince both East and West to come together and mend the schism that has split Christendom asunder for centuries.

* Mold the theology of the council (within reason) towards the doctrine of the true church.

* Ultimately unite Christians under one theological banner for the first time since the days of the apostles.

* Establish a new holy order to defend the faith and the faithful.

TODO:
  • Tweak conversion weightings a bit more
  • Minimize incompatibility with Catholic Trinity, make compatch if needed (hopefully not but likely)
  • Figure out some language localizations
  • Long-term stretch goal: Make the council into an activity with travel and such instead of merely a procession of events.

All requirements for holding the council:
  • All 5 pentarchy sites (Rome, Antioch, Alexandria, Jerusalem, Constantinople) held by a Christian faith (does not need to be the same for all 5) that has the special Ecumenism doctrine (i.e. Orthodox, Coptic, Catholic, Apostolic)
  • Max piety level and 2nd-from-max prestige level
  • Completely control Kingdom of Jerusalem
  • Independent ruler
  • Either an emperor or personally hold Kingdom of Jerusalem
  • 75 opinion with ERE and HRE emperors
  • 75 opinion with heads of faith of Catholic, Orthodox, and Coptic faiths (goes to 100 if said head of faith is zealous)
  • Learning 18 or Learning 12 + Theologian trait

Why are your localizations broken?

My IDE is being a butt and keeps screwing with the encoding. If localizations are broken that’s probably why. Just let me know so I can fix it (again).

FAQ:

  1. Why can’t I change <x> doctrine/tenet through the council?
I vaguely tried to keep it at least *feeling* somewhat realistic (in the very unrealistic context of healing the schism with an ecumenical council, at least).
  2. Can you add <x> feature?
Probably not (at least yet), this is my first mod and I still have no idea what I’m doing.
  3. Why so many requirements for the council?
Trying to simulate the rather herculean combination of diplomacy, conquest, and theological development that would be required for this sort of thing.
  4. Can I give you a suggestion? Or report a bug?
Sure, just don’t be a ♥♥♥♥ about it.
  5. Compatibility with <x> mod?
I figure it’s probably incompatible with any other mod that edits either Christianity as a religion or the religion core tenets list since I had to overwrite 00_christianity.txt and 30_core_tenets.txt. Other than that I really dunno. Shouldn’t be *too* much of an incompatibility nightmare outside of those two things since it’s pretty targeted in terms of what it changes.
  6. Will you update for future versions?
Maybe. Depends on how work-intensive it ends up being and if CK3 starts getting some decent DLC for once. If for some reason you like this mod enough to want it updated for future versions (and I haven’t done it or said I’m doing it) then you’re welcome to do it yourself and upload it when the time comes.
  7. Can you localize this mod into the other languages CK3 supports?
I’m using my vaguely conversational Spanish along with DeepL to try with one at least! I make no guarantees as to quality or even whether I’ll ever release it though.
  8. Aren’t a lot of those verses out of context?
    Yes. Yes they are.
