PGFM (Prestige Goods for Minors) is a mod with a simple purpose – to add a drop of flavour into many of the minor countries in Victoria 3. I’ve been a big fan of the prestige goods mechanic introduced by CoC but found it a little underwhelming that certain nations (i.e. USA) had multiple unique goods while other nations were left with nothing but the generic pool. While it’s understandable that Paradox wouldn’t want to spend time creating prestige goods for each and every nation on the map, I enjoyed seeing specific cultural industries represented in the game.
This mod is intended to be relatively historically accurate – there were some liberties taken in selecting the prestige goods but I’m fully open to suggestions in changing goods, company names, etc. Additionally, this mod has only been lightly tested – it should not heavily affect balance in any capacity (and as far as I’m aware, is bug free,) but if you experience any problems beyond that, don’t hesitate to let me know in the comments.
Is PGFM compatible with X?
– PGFM is compatible with mods that use the vanilla world map. There might be some inconsistencies with mods that add new states to the vanilla map (i.e. companies appearing in slightly different areas than intended,) but otherwise the only incompatibilities are with overhaul mods with new maps (ie. Realms of Exether). PGFM is functionally compatible with mods that introduce new prestige goods but some prestige goods may fail to appear properly in game as a result.
Why aren’t my prestige goods being produced/producing the wrong good?
– Due to performance reasons, Paradox has limited the amount of prestige goods per category to three. You’ll still be producing prestige goods from the same category, you just won’t be producing the "correct" prestige good. I’ve carefully selected the current list of prestige goods to not conflict with the cap introduced by Paradox, but if you’re using any other mods that add additional prestige goods, that may be the cause.

– Uruguayan Wool will most likely be removed in the future to make room for a more appropriate fabric prestige good
– Tonka Beans (Venezuela/Coffee) added, Tonka beans may be changed or removed to make room for a more appropriate coffee prestige good.
– Romanian Oil (Wallachia/Oil) added, Oil 2/3
– Harar Coffee (Ethiopia/Coffee) added, Coffee 3/3
– Bumbu Spice (Moluccas/Fruit) added, Fruit 2/3
– Pilbara Iron (Australia/Iron) added, Iron 3/3
– Slight bias towards Canada (I am in fact Canadian so this isn’t surprising) who has approximately 5 prestige goods available after unification. This will likely be reevaluated in the near future with a majority of the goods being moved to a separate Canada pack – will likely keep Maple Syrup and White Pine Timber in this pack.
