Arelian Crisis 2022-2025
The Republic of Arel (abbreviated as Arelia or Arel) is a fictional republic with around 17 000 000 population, where the head of state is the president, who forms a government after being elected. The republic itself was founded in 2010 after the collapse of the state of Zelenarus.
Between 2014 and 2018, the Republic of Arelia experienced an economic crisis when President Veleriy Molchov began cooperating with the Russian Federation, which started selling 5.45 caliber weapons to Arelia, which did not need them, because there were more than five 7.62 caliber armories on their territory, and Arelia was using AK-104 and PKM weapons at the time, but Russia recommended that they rearm with AK-74 and RPK-74 weapons. At that time, 70% of the state budget was spent on completely rearming the army. Arelia left the 7.62 caliber weapons in storage, along with the ammunition. The ammunition factories were closed.
In 2018, Roman Gomen was elected president. He returned more than 80% of the weapons to Russia because the army could not get used to the 5.45 caliber weapons, and at the same time, they arrived without any RIS mounts. Arelia’s economy grew by more than 50% in one year.
In 2022, Aleksandr Popov was "elected" president. He claimed that purchasing weapons from Russia was a good investment, but four years were not enough to prove that it was good for Arelia. In the first round, he received 28% of the vote, which meant he came second, but he won the second round with 62.23%. Russia sent the returned weapons back to Arelia, with both sides saying that they were purchased for what was bought between 2014 and 2018 to prevent the unrest that had swept through Arelia at the time. In 2023, the weapons had to be paid for, and the Arelian Republic fell back into economic crisis. In March 2023, supporters of the SPA (Svobodnaja partija Arelii — The Free Party of Arelia) gained access to warehouses containing equipment that had been decommissioned between 2014 and 2018. Later, in 2022, they equipped approximately 1,892,000 men, soldiers, volunteers, and state prisoners. To this day, Arelia is experienced the largest civil war of the Slavic states this century. On 29.10. in 2025, president Popov commited suicide, and the lead was taken by Roman Gomen.
