USEFUL THREATEN
Normally, when you threaten someone as a player, you receive a -15 reliability to your reliability score, which means the player has to wait 15 turns for reliability to be fully restored.
This mod changes the penalty to -1. Thus the player can use threaten once per turn with no significant penalty. Use it more than once and there will be negative consequences. Additionally, if you threaten someone after a trespass warning has been ignored, you can threaten them with no penalty. These changes make threaten actually useful!
If you threaten anyone who has an agreement with you, then of course your reliability score will tank if you end up going to war with them.
I may add a MCT profile that lets players adjust the penalty for themselves in the future, if there is demand.
Turns out I was wrong, I can’t use MCT to change db table options. So I’d have to make a new mod to change setting from 1 turn penalty to 2 turn penalty. Super lame but CA doesn’t have the tools.
I know people might think just 1 turn is too little, but try it and see that it’s not. You STILL get heavy diplomatic penalties with whomever you threaten, so the odds of being able to threaten the same faction decreases every turn. Also, if you declare war on someone after they pay your bribe it should hurt your reliability considerably.
Even at a 1 turn penalty, threaten will still be a niche mechanic.
This mod touches nothing except one line of code, should be compat with everything.
