Germany’s KNDS this week unveiled the Leopard 2A8, the latest version of the venerable main battle tank that has become a staple of armored formations for more than a dozen countries in Europe and beyond. The tank will be a new build, the first for the Leopard series since 1992, according to German defense officials, after several previous versions that were modernizations of existing tanks. The German army is slated to get 123 of the behemoths weighing nearly 70 metrics ton, with deliveries beginning in 2027 and to be finalized in 2030.
New features include a locally-produced version of the Trophy active protection system by Israel’s Rafael designed to fend off incoming projectiles. German officials tested Trophy on a previous iteration of the Leopard tank and decided to make it standard equipment for the new series.

Tracking missiles that requires manual lock, once locked and launched, it will attack opposing vehicle from top or direct depending on distance.
EuroTrophy Active Protection
Intercepts incoming missile and rocket projectiles. Might fail if missiles arre too fast or shot from strange angle. Has 6 rounds of APS, 120 seconds cooldown reload when used up.
MUSS 2.0 Laser Countermeasure (Only for stealth variant)
Jams lock-on missiles by tricking them towards the zone where APS could intercept them.
Turbo System (Press Shift)
Boosts the tank 50% (up to approx. 75kph) with diesel engine, recharging required after used up.
Fire Control System (Press prone key or [Z])
Provides Main Gun HUD locking on designated target with stabilizer. Will automatically track moving rigidbody.
Auto Zoom System (Press Scope Switching key or [T])
Zooms in the main gun hud depending on the range tracker. Providing most suitable zoom for firing.
Variable Zoom (Use Scope Rotation key or Mouse 4, 5)
Allows switching the aiming FOV using the mouse side button, freely adjusting between 2x and 30x magnification.
