Historical Chinese Beards
"Our bodies — to every hair and bit of skin — are received by us from our parents, and we must not presume to injure or wound them."
In traditional Chinese culture, growing a beard was a symbol of filial piety and dignity for adult men.
In vanilla CK3, a random "no beard" chance is applied generically to characters. As a result, a large number of adult males of Han culture are generated with a clean-shaven look. This seriously breaks historical immersion. In that era, typically only Eunuchs or minors would be without beards.
Features
- Fix "No Beard" Chance: Added a significant negative weight to the random "no_beard" chance specifically for Chinese Heritage. This drastically reduces the probability of adult males in the Chinese cultural sphere generating without a beard.
- Compatibility: This mod does not force beards on characters with the No Beard Eunuch trait.
- Refined Beard Pool: Expanded the selection of beards for Chinese culture by integrating suitable styles from the vanilla game (requires relevant DLCs), while reducing the spawn weight of—or completely removing—unsuitable styles.
- Historical Accuracy: Now, the vast majority of Chinese males will naturally grow beards that fit the aesthetic.
- Scope: This change only affects cultures with Chinese Heritage; other cultures remain unchanged.
