Opel entered DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft) in 1988, but in 1993 they fielded the Calibra. Based on the road car of the same name, the car uses an AWD layout and a longitudinally mounted 2.5 L V6 producing up to 470 hp. In 1994, Team Joest carried the operations with Manuel Reuter, Keke Rosberg, and John Winter on the wheel, and a year later would be joined with Keke’s own Opel Team Rosberg with Klaus Ludwig. Reuter, meanwhile, stayed in Opel Team Joest with Yannick Dalmas, JJ Lehto, and Ni Amorim joining the campaign.
