Ritual Possession
An update and, in my opinion, improvement on BigBen’s Possession mod ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3349289854&searchtext=possession )
Changes
– I removed the family limitation for possession. However, it should be noted that if you possess outside of the family then you’ll need to manually switch to the desired character after your previous character possesses them.
– Removed appearance changing for the target of possession. They will now continue appearing as they always have after you’ve possessed them. No more turning into a copy of your original vessel.
– I made it so that not just personality traits are transferred via possession. Now all traits excluding health and physical traits will transfer over. As a result, this will cause education traits to be overwritten along with the possessed body’s previous personality. It’s your mind in the body, so it should contain all your knowledge. Shouldn’t it?
– With the original mod, there’s a 10% chance of you becoming a lunatic as a result of ritual possession. I lowered this slightly to 7%. Partly because I thought 10% occurred a bit too often when testing and partly because the odds were changed to 1 in 13. 13 in paganism is often viewed as a lucky number and 7 is often an unlucky number 😛
– Tweaked the possession traits (see images). For the nongenetic possession trait, I changed the monthly learning experience to intrigue. My logic for it being that the character spends time trying to mask their possessed state. Despite this, I also gave the trait a -1 to intrigue because, well, it’s a struggle to mask that ♥♥♥♥. But, through possession, you do gain access to knowledge that isn’t your own, and so I gave the trait a +2 to learning. Additionally, I gave a minor penalty to stress gain and loss due to the condition being stressful to manage. For the genetic version, I included all of what’s already been stated plus a small amount of monthly learning experience, a +1 to intrigue instead, and a -1 to diplomacy. My reasoning for these differences is: the character has had their condition since birth and have thus learned to live with it better. They’re able to better absorb and make use of any information gained through possession but still have a bit of a reputation for being a weirdo.
I wanted to add in a way for secrets to also be inherited and skill points to overwrite the possessee’s previous skill points via possession but sadly I couldn’t get either of those to work. I am rather inexperienced when it comes to coding though so if anyone else can figure it out and wishes to share so I can include it, please feel free to reach out ~
Load order
My mods overwrite as little as possible. So, it’s generally a good idea to have them at the bottom of your load order, or as low as possible.

Compatibility
This mod mostly makes use of custom coding and thus shouldn’t conflict with many mods. The only game code it touches is concerning the possession traits. To avoid anything overwriting that trait, have this lower in your mod order. If you do find there to be a conflict, please narrow it down to the specific mod causing the conflict and I’ll see what I can do.
