The Illinois Defence Force (IDF) is a state founded military built to defend Illinois against the federal government. It’s a contingency against authoritarianism by using troops of the Illinois National Guard. The IDF is heavily armed but limited in resource as they are only supported by the state government. Troops are identified by the Illinois flag and the US distress signal (upside down US flag) to call the United States in a "State Of War".
After the Insurrection Act, the Governor of Illinois declare war against the federal government as he is unsatisfied with ICE and the US military operating in the state of Illinois in cities like Chicago, he deemed this as "unconstitutional". After many failed executive orders to prevent ICE deploying into Illinois, the Illinois Defence Force is founded as a result of local and federal standoff.
In forming a state owned military, troops of the Illinois National Guard is split with some troops joining the IDF or staying with the US National Guard. Criticisms from many citizens and journalist have stated that the Governor does not understand the crime crisis in Chicago that has lasted for more than 10 years and is only protecting repeat offenders in receiving the justice they need.
