Description:

IMPORTANT: the mod doesn’t change the startpos, so it’s compatible with mods that change that.

The mod

This mod aims to improve the Garamantians with new units, improving their public order, reducing the huge upkeep of some units and adding some flavour to their campaign experience.
For this mod I used my previous two mods (Better Garamantians and Additional units [Garamantians]) in order to make a better mod.

Changes
  • Added new units
  • Reduced upkeep costs for some units
  • Decreased religious unrest
  • Increased income from Slave Market buildings and they no longer require Spices or Iron


Units

In vanilla many military building levels have no units, now each military building level has at least one unit.

  • Garamantian Slingers: slingers with shields, spears and guerrilla deployment
  • Desert Skirmishers: low tier javelinmen with shields
  • Garamantian Raiders: shock infantry with spears, guerrilla deployment, raiding ability and excellent capture power
  • Desert Ambushers: high tier hybrid unit that carries spears, javelins and have guerrilla deployment
  • Garamantian Nobles: high tier spearmen with spear wall and better melee capabilities than Shawia Guard, but less armour and no precursor javelins. It has encourage and disciplined traits
  • Tuareg Javelin Riders: skirmish cavalry mounted on camels, with a bonus against cavalry
  • Light Moorish Cavalry: extremely fast shock cavalry


Reduced upkeep for some existing units

The religious techs for other desert kingdoms reduce upkeep costs by 40% in total, but the Garamantians don’t have them, so I reduced the upkeep for some of their unique units (-10%).
The only exception is Numidian Noble Cavalry (upkeep 600 in vanilla).

  • Amazigh Lancers, Amazigh Raiders, Amazigh Spearmen, Shawia Guard, Tuareg Camel Spearmen, Lancers of the Oasis, Light Moorish Cavalry: -10% upkeep cost
  • Noble Numidian Cavalry: -40% upkeep cost


Decreased religious unrest

They are a desert faction without technologies to reduce public order penalties from other religions, so this mod adds a trait that decreases public order penalties by 30%.


Increased income from Slave Market buildings

Garamantians made good profits by selling slaves, so I increased the income from Slave Trader (Lev.3) and Slave Market (Lev.4). Now they generate 25% more income.
These buildings no longer require Spices or Iron.

I’ll test the units in a campaign, so I could change them a bit.
