Faction Upgrade (Machinist) ENG
Faction Upgrade is my series of mods aimed at improving the various factions of the Kenshi world. The mod will affect the following things:
1. Weapons and armor
2. Cities and bases
3. Units
4. Dialogs
5. Starts
The Faction Upgrade (Machinist) mod aims to improve the faction of the same name.
Changes:
Town
I decided to completely change the interior of the University of Machinists, so that it would more correspond to the world center of knowledge. And I think I did it.
On the ground floor there is a laboratory and a mechanical workshop where university employees and students work. On the second floor there is a dormitory and a dining room. The third floor is occupied by a library and a multi-level lecture hall.
Lore and dialogues
I’ve always wondered how any idiot from the wastelands can build a science stand, buy books that he probably can’t read yet, and start making great scientific discoveries.
In general, I decided to carry out a real reform of education in the Kenshi world in order to make this process more logical. Although all this is described in detail in the mod’s dialogues, I will still briefly describe the changes.
Now, to build Research Bench, in addition to the usual resources, you will need special books – Summaries. In fact, Notes are your knowledge that you gain by attending classes with various teachers.
The education itself is divided into several parts:
To build a Small Research Bench, you will first just need to learn how to read. It will take the minimum number of lessons, namely four.
To build Research Bench II and III, you will need to attend six lessons of the First Rank each.
To build Research Bench IV and V, you will need to attend eight lessons of the Second Rank each.
To build a Research Bench VI, you will need to attend ten lessons of the Third Rank.
You will have to pay a small amount for each lesson, and the higher the Rank, the higher the amount will be. However, starting from the Second Rank, you will also receive a reputation boost with Machinists, which, if combined, will give you several useful bonuses.
Squads
But who should I learn the necessary knowledge from? Wandering Scientists from the University of Machinists will help you with this. They can be found in bars almost all over the world, but mostly at Way Stations and other Tech towns. They will help you learn to read and gain knowledge of the First Rank (Research Bench II and III).
To gain knowledge of the Second and Third Rank (Research Bench IV, V, VI), you will need to visit the University of Machinists in the World’s End. In it, you have to talk to a new character, Professor Osafi. He will help you with your studies.
If you want to play for a Holy Nation, but you’re afraid that the light of knowledge won’t break through religious dogmas, then don’t worry! Holy Lord Phoenix has taken care of you! In churches, you can find a Reading Teacher who will also help you learn to read and gain knowledge of the First Rank (Research Bench II and III). But remember, knowledge above the First Rank requires ancient scientific books, and this is HERESY!
Don’t want to study, but do you need Science Booths? It doesn’t matter! For a large sum, you can hire Roving Scientists to join your squad. In addition to their high scientific characteristics, you will find notes in their inventory that will help you build all Research Bench except the last one (VI).
Also, in some cities of the Allied Cities and the Holy Nation, you can find new recruits with good scientific characteristics (Novice and Noble Student). Since they did not complete their education for various reasons, they will have First-grade notes (Research Bench II and III) in their inventory.
Izumi, Soman, Dr. Chong, and other mental health-related recruits received notes to create a Small Research Bench.
Weapons and Armor
I have not used weapons and armor from other mods, so there will be no links.
