Psyern’s Sound System

An immersive ambient sound mod for DayZ

Originally developed for the Deadman’s Echo community server, Psyern’s Sound System brings horror and atmosphere to DayZ. Create trigger zones anywhere on the map that play creepy sounds when players enter them – perfect for haunted locations, abandoned buildings, mysterious forests, and post-apocalyptic environments.

Transform the atmosphere of your server with 149 high-quality horror and ambient sounds. Whether you want to create a haunted military base, an eerie forest filled with whispers, or an abandoned hospital with ghostly screams – this mod has you covered.

Features

Trigger Zones

Define custom areas on the map where sounds are triggered when players enter. Each zone is fully configurable with its own sound, radius, cooldown, and volume settings.

  • Sphere Triggers – Classic radius-based detection
  • Cylinder Triggers – Perfect for buildings and vertical spaces
  • Adjustable Range – Sound audible up to 1000 meters
  • Per-Zone Cooldowns – Prevent sound spam
  • Individual Volume Control – Fine-tune each zone

Ghost System

Create truly personal horror experiences! The Ghost System plays sounds only to a single player – nobody else can hear them. Perfect for psychological horror, making players question their sanity, or creating unique "haunted" moments where one survivor hears whispers while their teammates hear nothing.

  • Private Sounds – Only the targeted player hears the sound
  • Per-Zone Setting – Enable ghost mode individually for each zone
  • Psychological Horror – Create doubt and paranoia among players
  • Immersive Roleplay – Perfect for "voices in your head" scenarios

Player Random Sound System

Ambient sounds that follow players anywhere on the map! Random atmospheric sounds are sent to players at configurable intervals – creating an ever-present sense of unease no matter where they go.

  • Global Ambience – Sounds play regardless of player location
  • Randomized Selection – Different sounds each time for variety
  • Configurable Intervals – Control how often random sounds occur
  • Per-Player Experience – Each player gets their own random sounds

Sound Looping System

Create persistent ambient atmospheres with the looping system:

  • Single Play – Sound plays once when triggered
  • Loop Count – Define exact number of repetitions
  • Infinite Loop – Sound repeats until player leaves zone
  • Loop Delay – Configurable pause between repetitions

Live Reload Config

Reload your config while ingame:

  • Bind a Key – NUMPAD9 as reload key by default
  • Notification – Success and Fail notification after pressing key
  • Admin friendly – Add your GUID to get access

Panic alarms, reactor meltdown, earthquakes, rockslides.

Haunted houses, dungeons, abandoned cities, factory hums, dark drones.

  • Auto-Generated Config – Default config created on first run
  • Auto-Migration – Old configs automatically updated to new version
  • Debug Mode – Built-in logging for easy setup


Installation

────────────────────────────────────────

  1. Subscribe to this mod and CF (Community Framework)
  2. Add @CF and @Psyerns-Sound-System to your server mod list
  3. Start the server – config file is automatically created
  4. Edit profiles/DeadmansEcho/dme_creep.json to add your zones
  5. Restart server to apply changes

Finding Coordinates

Method 1: In-Game
Enable debug mode and use admin tools to see your current position.

Method 2: iZurvive
Use https://www.izurvive.com/ to click on locations and get coordinates.
