This is a development build of BettIR NVG module. Please be aware that it’s not currently signed, so don’t put it on live servers.
Weapon attachments are not part of this mod, they will be added later separately
The new version heavily relies on the built-in functions of ARMA 3, which weren’t available when the original implementation came out, such as new attachTo syntax or IR lights being supported natively by the game. There’s also some minor improvements:
- as engine friendly as it comes, I think
- AI drivers/pilots will not bug out because of players using BettIR (in the previous version, AI would consider BettIR light objects as vehicles)
- Helmets with embedded IR are now supported (such as CSAT Viper helmets – just make sure it’s added to the BettIR_Config -> CompatibleHeadgear class correctly)
- the light follows the head, no the eye movement as it did in the initial BettIR release, making it more real (although Im afraid people are going to find it annoying)
- because scripted lights have limited update rates, they can appear to be flickering, but with the current parameters it seems to only visually affect passenger vehicles
- scripted lights are managed differently – ARMA 3 has its limits and some lights might be prioritized over others, but BettIR light being so close to the player should prioritize it
- the light position is more aligned to the real model position, which is not great when aiming with NODs and might not feel as good as the previous version
- all nightvision devices are compatible out of the box, for most mods
Supported devices out of the box: ALL
With the new structure, all NODs are compatible out of the box, as long as they inherit from the default ARMA NVGoggles class and have a nightvision mode defined in the config.
The mod includes a few optional compatibility mods for RHS, CUP and USP which don’t do much, but they only correct the offset NV Modules which have their IR lights not in the middle as assumed for most.
