Ultra Historical Cultures & Discriminations is the sixth mod of the Ultra Historical mod series.

V. 1.1 compatible with Victoria 3 V. 1.13

Disclaimer

The Ultra Historical team and myself does not support in any means racism and ethnonationalism. Those social constructs, made without any serious scientific background, were, and still are, responsible for crimes against humanity.
The present mod intention is to represent their actual effects in the victorian era without any intention of glorification.

  • Numerous new cultures added to the game
  • An option at starts allows to toggle the amount of new cultures to add
  • Discrimination traits revisited to be more consistants with the racial theories of the 19th and 20th centuries
  • Addition of some missing languages like Polish

In the current iteration of the game, some discriminations traits like heritage makes little sense in relation to the actual social constructs of nation and race in the Victorian era.
For exemple, heritage traits for european cultures are way too narrow to represent actual cultures groups. The mod create wider heritages, like "germanic" now representing all people considered as "white" in the north-western europe (excluding celts like Irish people),
"latin" is common to all hispanics, italics and occitans in the mediteranean etc. Narrow heritages like "gallic" or "british" are removed.
In this mod, discrimination traits represents how population were considered abroad, not necessary how they identified themselves.
Some cultures were harder than other to classify, like french. (had to find a compromise, giving them germanic heritage while occitans in southern france are given latin heritage, wich allows occitans to be slightly discriminated in France, as they where historicaly).

  • Values on citizenship laws tweaked
  • Values on religion laws tweaked

The mod makes discrimination laws less gamified but have actualy some logic.
Each law now represent a proper vision of the bases for citizenchip :

  • Subjecthood is the pre-nationalism situation, with homelands and tradition being the most important traits to have.
  • Ethnostate is mostly about ethnicity, so heritage is the most important trait, language and tradition having marginal impact.
  • National Supremacy represent a restrained but mixed vision of the Nation, with both ethnicity and language being required, so both heritage and language are impactful.
  • Racial Segregation represent a Nation defined by the concept of "race", so the heritage family is the most impactfull trait, the rest being more or less marginal.
  • Cultural Exclusion is supposed to represent the "civic" concept of the Nation (french inspired). Here, the language is the most important trait in a generaly somewhat open citizenship.
  • Multiculturalism is the most open citizenchip, but the mod somewhat restrict it a bit more compared to base game, to represent the most open societies of the era, and none were completely without discriminations.
  • Various citizenship laws variants has been added to represent some uniques policies on discrimination and assimilation

This table represent the acceptance given by citizenship laws in the mod

Supported Languages

– English
– French

Future plans

We plan to create journal entries for the cultural assimilation of regional cultures into the bigger national cultures as a part of the Nation-State creation process.
