Description:

Magikus

Magikus is a magic SWEP made to bring magic to a whole next level. Creating Magikus was a very hard and difficult task but still successful. It took me around 2 months to create Magikus.

Magikus was created to bring some real magic to GMOD, and not some kind of dull, bland plain magic. Magikus was inspired by The Elder Scrolls Oblivion, I just couldnt make the best magic addon and not use some of the nostalgic magic sounds from Oblivion. Magikus has Oblivion icons for each category and different cast sounds based on the category.

Magikus Usage Information:

First you need to find the weapon itself. Magikus can be found in "Weapons", in the "Magikus" category. After this, you can play around with Magikus. To open the spells menu, you need to press "M", from there on you can freely move your cursor, allowing you to pick any spell you want. To use dual casting, you need to press left click on the spell you want as your first spell (left click), and then you have to press right click for your secondary spell. After all of this, you are ready to taste the power of Magikus and its spells!

Short: Find Magikus in category. Press "M" to open the spell category.

Spell Tinkerer Usage Information:

Short: Spawn the spell tinkerer, go near it, press "E" on it.

The spell tinkerer can be found in "Entities", in the "Magikus" category. To use the spell tinkerer you need to approach it and press "E" on it.
To use it:

You need to hold Magikus.
You need to open the spell menu of Magikus atleast once.
If all of these are done, you may now use the spell tinkerer. Unlike the normal Magikus spell interface, you will now see that each spell has an extra mechanic. These signs all represent something that depends on making the spell how you want. After messing with the special signs, you need to right click or left click the spell.

Spell Tinkerer Signs Information:

What Magikus includes:

Magikus Spells

Magikus offers circa 100+ spells, all made to diversificate the gameplay while also combining the flow of the spells. Today you cast a fireball, tomorrow you dont cast, you selfcast and fly in the sky, landing with a powerful shake, just like a rocket.

These spells include the categories
Destruction Category:
50 Destruction spells.
Restoration Category:
7 Restoration spells.
Conjuration Category:
14 Conjuration spells.
Mysticism Category:
9 Mysticism spells.
Illusion Category:
13 Illusion spells.
Alteration Category:
13 Alteration spells.

Leading to a grand variety of 106 different magic spells. As a small side note, each of the spells are unique and very different, as in material, behaviour and overall functionality.

Handmade Icons:
Magikus includes 106 fully hand made icons. They were quite hard to make, and yes, I know, they look bad and dumb but they are fully made by me, adding/showing how much love and passion went in for Magikus. Each icon has a different border, based on the category of the spell. For example, destruction category has a orange/redish border, to emphasize on the idea of destruction/chaos. Whereas, the restoration category has a green border.

Particles:
Magikus was my first addon where I’ve made my own particles. Magikus contains and has a lot of custom particles, each differing from eachother. This is of course based on the spell used.

Custom Animations:
Just like particles, Magikus was my first addon where I’ve made my own custom first person animations, and yes, it does support c_arms! You have an animation for casting, like casting a fireball, you have an animation for selfcasting, like putting/enchanting yourself with a buff or temporary custom spell, you have an animation for summoning/conjuring, you have an animation for casting/holding spells like a beam, a ray or even for lifting entities with telepathy, or you also have an animation for touching entities, as in debuffing, cursing, impacting entities and more. There is even an idle animation, always playing when you dont do anything!

Custom Third-Person Animations:
Magikus has custom third person animations! Thanks to Jetboom for making this animation API! The third animations are influenced by what spell you cast. For example, if you cast a fireball, it will show the third person animation, as in the world itself. If you cast a fireball or anything, other players will be able to see and make a conclusion on what spell you will cast. The third person animations try to mimic the first person animations.

Custom Killicons:
Every spell has custom killicons.

Dual Casting:
Magikus has dual casting. Adding this was quite tricky and still may not work at times. It does work as in casting properly and other functions. Sometimes it "bugs" out and the viewmodel does not flip. Dual casting added a lot of variety to Magikus. For example, you can cast a spell to fly, while also having a spell to cast a meteor storm, all of this while you"re still flying.

Spell Tinkering:
Magikus has a very unique and cool mechanic that allows you to tinker/change spells. This spell tinkering works as in modifying the quantity, mode, castmode, and layers of a spell. For example, you can make a fireball shoot five fireballs instead of the original spell that only shoots one fireball. Or if you want to go even crazier, you can make a homing meteor spell, this meteor will find the nearest target, following it, and exploding on impact. Or you can make a guided ice hammer, allowing you to guide it anywhere you want. The spell tinkering system is endless, this means you can change almost everything from a basic spell, making it very complex and wrathful! The spell tinkering may "break" some spells, as in terms of balancing and overall functionality. As a side note, if a spell is tinkered, it will appear as "TINKERED" on the top of the spell’s icon.

At last I want to say that Magikus is a very unique take on the magic "industry" on GMOD. People out here do not know how to make a proper magic addon. I love magic, I came here and made it. Magikus was made with soul and heart for magic.

Fun fact:
The tinkering system was there since the start.
